Ah! The Power of Friends!!

Okay, since the first season, we've seen many big stars make appearances on Friends from George Clooney, to Julia Roberts to Bruce Willis, and now Susan Sarandon and Jason Alexander are going to appear as well, and we're hearing that Elizabeth Hurley, and maybe John Travolta may appear this season as well.

So, here's my question. Why are so many stars so into friends and why do they want to come on the show? Why so much appeal?

I'm not saying that it bothers me, I think it's great. It's also great to hear stars like Julia Roberts saying that she was intimidated by the shows stars when she walked on the set. Susan Sarandon said she's very nervous about being on the show? What's so special about this show?

And for all those people who think that Friends is on its last legs. Just take a look at how strong this show still is when these big shots want to come on the show?

Well, it *is* a big hit. And of course some of the actors have worked with various of the Friends on other shows.

If you're a movie star used to filming one year and having the film come out a year later I can well imagine it would be pretty intimidating to be on a hit show that's going to be taped one week -- live! -- and then broadcast to millions of people all at once the next. And the fact is also that TV stars have an instant familiarity that most movie stars don't.

That's a good. Point. I actually enjoy seeing big stars appearing on the show. I just hope it's not killing the show's success.
