I just caught the beginning of the episode where Monica catches her putting an empty milk carton back in the fridge...Rachel: "yes, but the garbage can if full" Monica: "have you EVER taken out the trash" Rachel: "i thought you LIKED taking it out"
She takes out a pizza box, the janitor guy is standing there after having spent an hour unclogging the garbage chute. She very perkily says "Hi Mr. Whats his Name" (I can't remember his name) and he stands there while she jams the box in, completely oblivious to him and to the box being a potential "clogger". He reams her a new asshole......makes fun of her by saying "oh yah, daddy buy me this..." she winds up crying.
I just think it's another example of how she is pretty much thoughtless and inconsiderate, but definately not cruel.
I don't really see Rachel as always being mean and considering I like her a lot and I don't exactly like Ross as much as I like Rachel maybe I just take her side a lot, but in certain instances she has been mean to Ross.
A) When she told everyone Ross came on to her when she knew very well that she came on to Ross. She lead them to believe that Ross had begged her for sex when that didn't happen only to make Ross feel bad.
B)She got very upset with him for falling asleep while reading the letter, but it was unreasonable of her to expect him to read the entire thing at the wee hours of the morning.
C) A lot of little things such as when she says things about Ross' dating life under her breath or makes comments about his work. In TOW Joey's new girlfirend she dates the soccer freak to make Ross jealous.
However there have been a lot of instances of Ross being cruel to Rachel including
A) The list incident, I don't think he should have ever made the list or if he really had to; he should have never let her see it. I find it wrong and especially the stuff he wrote
B) The Chole incident. Now I have to say I think that they were on a break, but it was wrong of Ross to sleep with Chole. It wouldn't have been as bad except he LIED about it which I think was the worst part of it.
C) He told her he read her letter when he really hadn't and he just picked "it does" out of the air. He didn't even know what he was talking about. He should have been honest.
D) He has also tried to make Rachel jealous and show off to her.
I just think that over time Ross has lied to Rachel a lot about thing (Chole, I hate Rachel club) and she has just lost trust in him. In season one they were really close, but over time the closeness fades and I think part of it was the lack of trust Rachel had in Ross after the many instances of him lying to her. This is also another reason I believe more in Joey and Rachel than Ross and Rachel.
I do think that Rachel is mean to Ross sometimes she is really mean, but I think she has some foundation for it. He lost her trust and I don't think she ever regained it back. I think that it was a big step for them to make up after the Chole incident and all they have been through they are still friends, but would they still be friends if they weren't part of the group? If they didn't have the other pushing them in the beginning of the break up would they still have been friends again? I don't know. I just know that Ross lost Rachel's trust and they have never been as close.
However this is all my opinion. I think Rachel is meaner to Ross than anyone else, but I also think he did some pretty rotten things to her and she has never recovered.
