It's one of the ironies of Hollywood that Alec Baldwin is considered a bigger name star than Lisa Kudrow -- or David Schwimmer or Matt LeBlanc, etc. -- even though literally millions more people around the world watch Friends each week than have seen all of AB's movies put together. The mystique of movies is such that the appearance of even a B-list movie star like Baldwin is considered bigger news than the weekly presence of six people with some of the most famous names and faces in the world ... when the six are mere TV stars.

I'm not complaining, and I've nothing against Alec Baldwin. I just think it's an odd and ironic fact that TV stars get less respect than movie stars -- both inside and outside the industry -- even though they bring pleasure and entertainment to many, many more people.

I'd say Alec Baldwin is as good an actor as Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt(what's an A-list actor, i know Julia Roberts is on my list of the best actresses). I've met Alec Baldwin and he's a great guy(looks older in person).

Roberts, Cruise and Pitt are A-list actors because they're hugely popular and famous and have starred in many Hollywood hit movies. In theory, an A-list star can generate big box office -- or at least a big opening weekend -- just by the star power of his/her name alone. (In practice, it doesn't always work out that way -- "Vanilla Sky" being an obvious recent example.)

To put it another way, if Joey Tribbiani's latest movie is more commonly known as "the new Joey Tribbiani movie" than by its actual title, then that Joey is probably A-list. Alec Baldwin is definitely not in that category, nor are many other excellent actors.
