There are fanfics for a lot of shows, but I think right behind "The X-Files", "Star Trek" and maybe "Stargate: SG-1" most are about "Friends". Some people even do full alternate seasons (I've seen ends of season 10 already). Of course there's a huge amount of crap, most often the story simply exists to pair the writer's favourite couple up (I did it too), but some are quite good (I think less than 10%). Then there're those which's ideas sound quite interesting, but the authors write such a bad English, you can't finish reading, or the characters behave so unrealistic you have to cringe. It even seems as if it's quite common in the US to have pupils / students write fanfics. I only had to write drama acts in school, but no TV stories, it's still seen as less qualityful than theater stuff, methinks.

True. I can't even finish more than a few paras before I close some of them. You have to find the authors that you like. Usually, you'll like most of the stuff your fave author writes. At least its that way for me.

Don't separate your urls with a double dash. Some newsreaders would interpret that as end of post and snip your post at the point.

I fear there's not been much change since you read it, nevertheless I appreciate any comment. Unfortunately I don't have enough time (exams) and "imaginatory power" to extend plots for the rest of the gang. I wanted to write a fight between Monica and Chandler, but couldn't figure it out.

No, it isn't. Especially if you try to write one like the show itself. Humor fics are the hardest. Its a lot easier to write drama. It really makes you appreciate the writers more once you try and write a fic yourself.

Say, did you write one? If so where can we read it? I realized that you can write two or three characters quite well, but miserably fail on the others. Phoebe and Chandler's humour is the hardest -- at least for me.

I have written two fanfics myself and would love to know what you guys think!! But I am not sure where to post them for you to all see them. I have posted them other places before, but I have different names on different groups. I go by Sarah, RayRayGreen, and Trigger. Is it wrong to post them here? I have always wanted to know. By the way, my two fanfics are what I think the season finale should be like this season.

I have incomplete C&M fic that I started many months ago. I got stuck and didn't know how to proceed but I got a few ideas going now and I'm working on it again. Should be done soon and I'll put it up on fanfiction.net

Actually, Phoebe's not all the difficult but sometimes when we write it might look really cliched. How much can you write about auras? Plus, the problem with humour fics not being really funny is that you can't present visual gags in a fic and have them be funny. The same thing on the show would get a laugh or two. So, the humour has to be from the dialogue and it has to be a little clever too. Oh well, comedy isn't easy.

LoL, I was talking about the question...C. Paper thought that my question was too easy(What is FanFic?) and I was responding that I did not think it was an easy question because there are many things one thinks of if you say "Fan Fiction."

I've never written a "Friends" fanfic, but I wrote several "Frasier" ones. I gave up trying to write in script format, so I just wrote them in regular story format. It definitely is challenging to make the fics humorous and in the style of the show's writers.
