"Friends" renewed on NBC

I know last year at this time we were speculating this current season would probably be the last. The new NBC schedule is out and "Friends" will be back for yet another season, same time and night. With the direction for the upcoming season likely to come with the "surprise" announcement Thursday night, who knows where we'll be heading. Chandler and Monica's storyline seems evident based on the rumor. Here's hoping Phoebes, Rachel, Joey, and Ross continue to grow up as they have this season to an extent.

You didn't dream it, but if a show performs poorly, the network will cancel it regardless of cast member contracts. Or, the network can go out of its way to kill a show by sticking it on at a bad night and time.

Well.... considering that Friends is still one of NBC's most-viewed sitcoms (and one of the most viewed sitcoms on TV), I don't think any of the execs would want to try and kill the show, even if its numbers don't measure up to that of Survivor. So I don't think any of us were ever worried that NBC would try to nix the show before the contract expires. What would they replace the show with to try and compete with Survivor? The Webber Show?

I don't knwo whereyou get your newsinfo from, but when they renewed their contract last summer they did it for TWO years, seaoson 7 and the next, not only one. So nobody has expected it to end after this season anyway.

Don't be too sad! I know it is sad, but at least it can leave before the program gets too old, and we can't really relate to the characters anymore eh? I reckon eight seasons is enough, cause otherwise the format gets tired
