one thing i found really sweet was ross giving the bike to phoebe and teaching her how to ride it :)

The one I thought about was in "TOW Ross' Wedding", when Rachel comes to tell him that she loves him ... when she sees him with Emily and then talks with Ross. Then Rachel pauses to see how nice Ross looks, and then says that she couldn't let Ross get married without telling him 'congratulations'. With how much she wanted to tell him that she loved him, and how soft her voice was and the crowd's reaction. It was a very sweet and touching moment.

This will probably sound gay, but I thought one of the sweetest moments was when Joey moved out of Chandler's apartment and left, and just as Chandler turned around depressed, Joey burst back in and gave him a big bear hug, and then walked out.

And of course, the ultimate sweet moment on "Friends," was Ross throwing the poker game for Rachel.

When TOW Ross' Wedding first aired, I have to admit I got a little choked up when Rachel said, "congratulations." It was a truly selfless act, that I didn't expect from Rachel, and it said a great deal about how true her love was for Ross back then.

I saw this episode again just the other day, and I have to say, it caught me again--maybe not as much as the first time--there is just something about that kind of sacrafice that is so touching. I am reminded of recent events, but I won't spoil it for anyone.

The poker thing is so sweet of him....but I would have to say tow the prom video would come in second cause that was so sweet of ross to do that for rachel. Every time i see these two episodes i wanna cry...=)

Oh, you're right, I just happened to rewatch it after sending out the post. It's "just" a strip as far as we know. And her first as it seems. ;) Nevertheless I'd like to cancel these two, because although it's very generous and lovely by Monica, I think it's neither sweet nor cute.

How could I forget Rachel at Ross' wedding? Gosh, those two were so cute together (and even apart), no Cujo watching could top that.

When thinking about scenes I also came upon the two birthes so far (Carol to Ben & Phoebe to triplets), realizing that both times everybody was around at the hospital and the birthes itselves were no big deal. This made me think about how they'll handle Rachel giving birth. If I was an author -- and thank a god of your choice, J&R fans, I'm not --, I'd have only one of the friends around, who's either Ross or Joey depending on the episodes till then and the plans for season #9. Needless to say I'd prefer Ross.

dude, you are one hardcore R&R fan. I agree on a lot of your stuff, BUT I think the one single scene that moved me the most so far was in TOW the worst best man ever, when Ross decides he wants both Joey&Chandler as his best men. I had tears running down my face and that didnt even happen when R&R broke up. Plus, it was not only very moving, it was also dead funny, if you remember the following after Ross tells Joey&Chandler:

Joey (nearly in tears): I gotta go check something (turns around) Chandler (also just about to cry): what a baby.... Ross (... you know...): Yeah total wuss...

Its funny you started this thread I was thinking about doing the same thing right now :-)

I didn't put up this list with praising Ross above the others in mind, I swear. Most of you had more time than me, who first time watched most episodes in a row, to accept other possibilities. I believe in true love (lobsters if you want) and think what the first seasons showed us for R&R is about it. Real life and stories written close to it may differ, of course.

Hit me, for not remembering that scene in detail. I actually *can* remember there was something sentimental. I'll rewatch the episode later today.

Also, in the first season's TOW Nana Dies Twice, when Monica gets that picture of Nana and her friends sitting around their coffee shop, and all six friends look at it and Ross says "Looks like a fun gang," and the camera catches all six of them just standing around looking at the picture, that's kind of an "awwwwwwww" moment.

Marcel grabbing Ross' finger was also pretty sweet, even though if you tell anyone I said that, I will hunt you down.

This is the first thing that came to my mind, so I figure it's worth mentioning...

In 316 when RnR are breaking up, and ross starts pleading with her:

Ross: Look, look, there's got to be a way we can work past this. Okay, (takes a hold of one of her arms.) I can't imagine, I can't imagine my life without you. (Both of them are starting to cry.) Without, without these arms, and your face, and this heart. Your good heart Rach, (drops to his knees and hugs her around her waist) and, and....

Without these arms? Out of context that sounds like the dumbest sentence ever...but that line gets me everytime....
