Bored to tears, so I thought I'd ask...

Okay, so the answer as to whether "Friends" will continue or not will be upon us in about 11 and a half hours or so. But before then, I figured I'd see what you all think: Will the cast accept $800,000 with a larger chunk of the syndication pie?

I say...no. I would love to be wrong and hope that I am. But it seems that no one in the cast is all too eager to re-sign and probably looking for a way out so as to go on to their supposed "big time" (insert dubious shrug here) movie careers. Why stand firm for $1 million and not compromise up to now if this is not the case?

I am a fan of the show. I am a fan of the Chandler/Monica coupling, so if the show is done, I'll get an end. I will say this, however: Should I be right and the show does *not* return, I would be one very angry Ross/Rachel fan (if I was one; I am ambivalent where these two are concerned). Six years of investment in a show to be left dangling (especially since filming reports have it that David Schwimmer wasn't required to be at the finale's taping [easy, Claire!]) is a ripoff and a letdown. Sure, it is only a TV show and life as we know it will continue, but to invest in something to get no return is, I think, disappointing and a slap in the face to all of you who cared about this plotline...from Day One.

Just wanted to see if any of you thought if the cast would accept the final offer. Here's hoping that the announcement, good or bad, comes soon so we can stop wondering and prepare for the end, if need be.

As much has I love Friends I just think they're being greedy!

In fact - thay're lucky the show proved to be such a hit cos there a many sitcoms around that don't get past the pilot... it just really f**** me off!

If the cast were asking for the $1 million per show deal, knowing the network and Warner Brothers wouldn't go along with that idea, just because they don't want to do another season but want to be able to say 'We didn't exactly quit, they refused to pay what we were worth'.

I hope not, It would be better to be honest and say, 'well it's been fun being on 'Friends' but it's time to move on'.

As others here have said, the cast looks greedy. And it would look bad to turn down $800,000 an episode and quibble about the $200,000 more you think you should have. You have to wonder who's advising them on these things. I'm no financial analyst but I'd tell them to take anything above $500,000 an episode and double their syndication percentage.

I don't think any of them are really looking for a way out. I think this is one of the most blatent publicity drives i've seen in years, based on:

1) This so called deadline is about 4 days before the maybe grand finale cliffhanger that they want to draw attention to, if they think its going to be the end, more people will decide to watch, but they'll still watch it then even when season 7 is announced. 2) Random reports seemed to pop up all over the press as if they were spoonfed by the network.

I'm sure they've accepted one weeks ago, and I expect we'll never really know what it was. Everyone seems to assume that NBC aren't allowed to lie about this. I am expecting the 800k will be announced but they'll probably have the amounts that they "aren't that greedy" for.

I thought this weeks ago, but of course wouldnt say till for sure. They dont just automatically say omg this is going to be the series finale 3 days before it..nah dont think so. They advertise it a month in advance.
