From IMDB (Feb 14/05)... "Matthew Perry has been rushed to the hospital after suffering a series of severe drug-induced seizures. The Friends actor, who played Chandler Bing in the hit US television series, was admitted under a false name to Los Angeles' UCLA hospital after a horrific adverse reaction to prescription drugs on Wednesday. Emergency tests on the star revealed traces of barbiturates, normally prescribed to aid sleep or calm anxiety. Perry has a history of prescription drug addiction and has been in and out of rehab since 1997. His spokeswoman says, 'His doctor wanted him in the hospital where they could observe his condition. But he's fine.'"
Jeez, does anybody buy this crap? First of all, why does a normal, healthy thirty-something man need prescription drugs anyway? He's got millions in the bank, he has no work or family responsibilities - what the hell kind of stress or anxiety could he possibly have? No, it's quite obvious he's not "fine." He's an addict and he's fallen off the wagon one more time. "Seizures, adverse reactions?" Yeah, no doubt. I think Perry is fundamentally an unstable personality and he needs a constant high, either from an audience or drugs -- or he just loses it. The sad part is he only spent the night in hospital, probably after getting his stomach pumped, and then got the hell out after the doctors lectured him about how drugs will kill him and refused to give him any more. Perry is a Hollywood cliche, the drug-addled has-been slowly killing himself with self pity and prescription pain-killers. If you read Perry was found dead in his home some morning within the next few years, don't bother asking how.
