Monica & Chandler

Not sure if this has been asked before, but how true is it that Monica and Chandler were closer than with any of the others before they got together? And any thing in preceding episodes that might have given a clue to what happened in London?

To put it simply, Monica felt left out in London then got drunk ended up in bed with Chandler and had a night of sex, in the morning regreted it, got back to New York, they then had some more sex, found they were falling in love, moved into gether had some more sex, as well as saved water once by sharing a bath, decided to get married and had more sex but legally, and of late have been having lots of sex to have a baby. ;-)

Hmm maybe I wasn't clear? E.g. in the fourth season before the London affair, Chandler had been asking Monica if she would date him. Also in the first season, when Carol was giving birth, Chandler suggested he and Monica get together if they are still single at the age of forty.

Yesterday on CNN People they featured Friends. The writers talked about the Monica/Chandler getting together and they admitted that the idea had been thought up when Ross & Rachel were still together. They thought that was too soon to bring the storyline into the show, so they waited a while.

I dunno, watch alot of the earlier episodes. There's quite a few times where, for example they'll be sitting on the couch, and Chandler and Monica are sitting there pretty close, with their arms over each other shoulders...you don't really seem to see that with any other pairing. (like Joey and Phoebe, or Chandler and Rachel, etc). Although TOW at the Beach and TOW the Jellyfish seem to contradict this ;^)

there was no date on the screen telling when the interview had taken place, but it was Marta Kauffman and David Crane who mentioned this. They didn't metion any foreshadowing of the relationship, just that the idea was sitting there, waiting for the right time. Then they showed Matthew and Courteney talking about how the whole relationship was only supposed to last a few episodes, but obviously those involved decided to keep it going.

Yes, I remember seeing that as well.... I can't remember which interview special it was but I deffinatly remember them saying it was only supposed to last a few episodes but there was such a big response from it that they decided to keep it going.

When Ben was born and they were all at the hospital Monica and Chandler do this "Why won't I be married when I'm 40" speech. Looking back that seemed very much like a foreshadowing, or it could have just been coincidence and they decided to bring a relationship from it. But I have noticed them sitting together on the couch a lot as well.

Theres the one at the beach - "I'm the last man on earth, and you're the last woman, will you go out with me?" etc. There was some coincidental foreshadowing when Monica and Rachel look after ben too, with Ben saying "Monica Bang" - sounded a lot like "Monica Bing" to me though.
