Ah yes, such a versatile word. In one place it's a verb; in another it's an adjective. I know a few others, but I'll just leave it for now.

Where does "f**k" come from anyway? How long has it been around? Because i've noticed from the movies lately where they are set in different times (past times) that they use "f**k" also, i dont' know if they are just adding modern words or if ppl. actually used that word in those times. Anyone know?

Well. I'm not expert, but I thought, what the hell. I'll tell you what I heard.

Hundreds of years ago, the English Navy had trouble recruiting seamen as they knew they would be away for long stretches of time, and didn't care to be away from the warmth of their wives' beds. So, the king declared that fornication while in far away lands would not be held against them upon their return. So an acronym sprang up from Fornication Under Consent of the King.

Okay, it's plausible, but it could just as easily be ranked with the urban legends of the modern era. I do know that my mother heard this story when she was in high school in the late 30's. So, it's been around the block a few times. That still doesn't make if fact.
