Something caught my attention when I was watching re-runs of the second series.
The clock in Monica's kitchen (above the microwave) always reads 3:56. I guess now I have to watch all the other episodes a little closer. :-)

don't mean a thing. When our carriage clock died it stayed on our mantlepiece for the best part of 5 years. Then eventually they bought some 300 quid wall clock. Maybe i'll understand when i'm 55 :)

It IS a clock. Do you want to know what why I'm so sure? Because I actually saw the numers 1-12 and the two hands. But I'm watching 124 right now "TOW Rachel finds out" and all of a sudden there is there is no clock. So I guess it's only in series 2 (and 3?).
I'm restarting series 2 in a few minutes so I'll look out for it. Maybe it was just there for a few episodes and the writers felt they had to play a game on the fans. I wouldn't be at all surprised. :-)

Perhaps Larissa can enlighten us if the lid was broken in the hiatus between Seasons 1 and 2. Were the episodes filmed out of order, so that the plant came in between the lion jar and the clock jar?

And it payed off. I hate to admit it, but you're right! Now I saw it a little better.

While I think this analysis is a little scary <g>, I did generally notice that over the years M+R/P/C's apartment has become less and less cluttered.

I get your point, but if that's the case in Friends, it doesn't make sense. Monica is supposed to be so meticulous, you wouldn't expect the writers to go so far as to put a dead clock in the background. You know? :-)
