7*12 The One With The Cheesecake

Chandler eats a cheesecake which was delivered to apartment 20 by mistake instead of the apartment underneath. Rachel walks in and starts scolding him, saying he's a stealer and it's not right (yaddayaddayadda) but changes her mind when she tastes it.

Monica gets angry that her cousin who's getting married isn't inviting her whereas Ross and his girlfriend (some language teacher at NYU) are. Monica manages to convince Ross to take her instead.

Phoebe is upset because Joey stood her up on their dinner-date. They decided to go out to dinner once a week just the two of them so they can discuss the rest of the group. Joey explains to her that it was for a good reason : she was hot and he had his chances. He goes on saying that according to Ross, if there's a chance for sex, you can cancel a date. Phoebe lectures him about how friends are for life and there's no good reason to cancel a date. Joey kisses her.

At the wedding ceremony, Monica discovers that the reason she didn't invite her was because she was marrying one of her ex's. Ross is annoyed that his aunt always greets him by kissing him on the lips.

Joey and Phoebe? Noooo!!! Sounds like we're spared a C&M storyline this episode. Ross has a girlfriend. Huh. No mention of Tag, yay! The cheesecake story, can you *get* any dumber?

Remember this is show about all the Friends not just Monica and Chandler, so Joey and Phoebe do deserve to get a storyline like that.

To make it up to Phoebe, Joey sets another date with her for the following night. But Phoebe runs into the love of her life (David-the-scientist-guy-who-left-for-Minsk) who is only there for one night, so she doesn't know what to do. Cancel her date with Joey after the sermon she gave him about friendship? Or miss the night of her life with her man? She settles for both thinking Joey, as always, will be done with his meal in less than 2 minutes, and she can see David afterward. However, Joey finds out and makes dinner last on purpose (very funny moment). Phoebe can't take any more of it and tells him everything. Then she leaves to meet David.

Chandler gets another cake, but this time Rachel and he decide to put it at the neighbor's door. Then they run to a restaurant to not be tempted to eat it. When they get back, the cheesecake's still there, so they take it quick before the neighbor opens the door.

That's pretty much all there was to this episode.

Okay, are the writers reading the newsgroup again? How long ago was it that we said the scientist guy was supposed to be back already? Next thing we know Pete Becker will be Ultimate Fighting Champion! <g> And, yay! Phoebe gets a good storyline!

This to me sounds like the first part of a two-parter, since there seems to be quite a few loose ends. Does Monica get in a fight with her cousin? Does their aunt eat Ross alive? Does David eventually not stay?

I've just read the name of this episode, and it seems like it's episode 711 now. According to NBC Media Village an apisode with this name will air on January 4th, which would make it # 711.
