Does Joey speaks italian??

I've just saw the episode 107 TOW the Blackout and i was wondering why Joey don't speak italian with Paolo?? So can he speak italian or not??

I recall in some episode Chandler saying "and I know he only knows the bad words". All we ever hear Joey say in Italian is "io sono numero uno", which is incorrect Italian as far as I know, and "va fa Napoli", basically meaning "go to Naples", replacing a common Italian offensive expression "va fan kulo", literally meaning "got to ass". Interestingly though, at one point Phoebe calls Kirstin Davis's character a "stronzo", which means "shit" in Italian and is as vulgar as it's English equivalent.
