Ok all the posts I read practically everyone thinks Ross and Rachel will end up together. This makes me angry. You people do not know whats going to happen and you are just taking this Joey and Rachel thing and ignoring it. It is not to be ignores. They cannot just have Rachel get with Ross and make Joey all upset. Ross and Rachel have a baby no love intrest or anything. Thsi show has proven that half the time the characters slepp together with no feeling. This shows that Ross and Rachel probaly have no feelings. They had thier chances. The baby is not only Ross' baby it is Rachel's too and I think you should take that into account as well. Ross doesn't rule Rachel's love life. Ross should tell Joey that he shoudln't have felt scared to tell him about his feelings and give him a green light to date Rachel. I also think that JOey's feelings are deep otherwise this wouldn't have went on for so long. I also thinks that Ross and Rachel had a chance and they blew it; if they got married I doubt it would last. I also think if Phoebe and Joey were going to get togther Phoebe would have shown some intrest in 815 and she didn't also she is trying to help Joey and she is not acting jealous. Please get over Ross and Rachel and open your eyes to new stuff
I would just like to say a few words
I disagree. R and R have very deep feelings for one another that will only be enhanced with the birth of their baby.
Joey, for the first time in his philandering life, is showing the *potential* to be a monogomous, caring partner. I don't think that Rachel could ever take him seriously after the cavalcade of women he's been with who meant nothing to him.
Also, it seems like a lot of Joey's feelings come from Rachel's predicament on being a single woman with a baby on the way. I know that he loves her as his long-time friend, but I don't believe that he is "in love" with Rachel.
Joey feels protective of Rachel. His initial reaction to hearing that Phoebe and then Rachel was pregnant was to ask each to marry him. In a lot of ways, he's just an old fashioned guy (he's always been very protective of his sisters).
Donna My opinions might have changed, but not the fact that I am right.

Nah, I think the array of opinions is all over the place. There's the R&R group, the R&J group and the Couples Suck group... just to name a few...
Well, I know what happens in the next two episodes. I don't even think the writers know what's going to happen before the show is over.
But they can just have Rachel get with Joey and make Ross all upset? :-)
Ross and Rachel have a complicated mess that can be interpreted so many different ways, placing bets is half the fun.
Yep. I'd agree with you here.
It looks inconclusive either way. They run hot and cold so often nothing they do for good or ill should surprise us anymore.
They had thier chances. The
I'm sorry, I don't quite see what that has to do with anything; Rachel is not under any circumstances going to lose status as the baby's mother no matter what happens. Ross could be bumped to second string dad; there is no chance whatsoever that will happen to Rachel.
I don't think anybody's saying that Ross should forbid Rachel from seeing Joey. I think some folks think it would be in poor taste for the writers to have Rachel dating Joey under these extremely weird circumstances. We all agree it is Rachel's decision entirely; some of us hope she doesn't like the idea.
Four episodes? I wonder how long it is in Friends time. It may seem longer to us because of Olympics and reruns.
Grin. It didn't.
This could be true.
Oh, I'm not at all sure of that.
Um, no. I will get over Ross and Rachel after Joey and Rachel have been an established couple for awhile. Or I may just boycott the show again like I did in season 7 - which harmed nobody at all (including me) and really is a matter of no importance to anybody else.
Anyway, we'll have her immediate answer tomorrow, (which may not be the final answer) and let the games begin THEN!

ITA! I'll like to see if they ever resolve the "break" issue. They each had even tried to influence little Ben as we saw in TOW truth abt London.
The producers have indicated that they wanted to send the characters out in style. I do hope they know well enough where this J&R story should come to a halt and not whipsaw the storyline back and forth.
But for the sake of argument, lets say J&R does happen in the last and final season; exactly how is Ross expected to go out in style if he gets bumped to second string dad? He'll then have 2 kids now out of wedlock, having lost #1 to a lesbian and now he'll be losing another to his best friend who's also first time lucky in love with the girl he's had a crush on since ninth grade; nevermind the millions of fans who have been strung for 8 years. Frankly, Ross will become the biggest loser in televison history if the above ever happens.

In complete agreement, Narag. Just to elaborate: This is a comedy. Audiences have every right to expect a happy ending for EVERY character.
When you consider the long arc of the series -- not just the last few episodes, but the entire 8 years -- some of the "happy endings" become obvious. It's easy to imagine the Joey we have known since 1994 being happy because his career is taking off. Love and marriage have never been a major factor for him.
On the other hand, if there was ever a suburban-husband-and-father-wannabe, it's Ross. The major factor in his life, as we've seen it, has been his relationships with women and his hopes for the permanency thereof. It is one of the funny/sad ironies of the show that the most domesticated, traditional and marriage-minded man is currently single and multiply divorced. It is virtually impossible to imagine a happy ending for Ross that does not include the prospect of a happy marriage.
In theory, that marriage could be with someone besides Rachel. Frankly, I think he could do better. But HE doesn't seem to think so, as he's never had a relationship with anything like the depth of feeling he had for Rachel.
Furthermore, Rachel is the mother of his child. Even in 2002, most people -- or most Americans, at least -- believe that mothers and fathers should be married to each other if possible and certainly regard that as the ideal outcome, situation permitting. I don't think there's much question that a traditional guy like Ross believes that too, even if he has learned to live with the fact that things don't always work out that way.
Finally, there is the complication factor. In the midst of trying to wrap everyone up neatly and happily while maintaining audience interest for one more year, would the writers introduce and develop a new character with sufficient depth and believability to be Ross' happy-life mate? Maybe ... but I doubt it.
Look, the producers are going to do what they want to do. However, I think the audience would have every right to feel cheated if Friends does not end with Ross in (or about to enter) a happy marriage. Maybe it won't be with Rachel ... but she is really the only candidate on the horizon right now.

Caitrion, first off...Amen.
Secondly, I wouldn't worry about them not noticing. If tonight's episode films as good as it reads, the Joey and Rachel contingent will grow considerably.

Deep feelings? Really? Unless I've missed an episode somewhere, I don't think he has even begun to reveal his feelings for Rachel yet and already I'm to believe he has it so bad for Rachel? It sounds more like an obsession to me. Does Joey have a secret shrine somewhere with a wall full of Rachel's photos lit with dozens of burning candles? :-)
