They made it seem like if she did go...nobody would ever, ever, ever, ever see her again. I guess flights to Paris are one way only. And that was the last flight ever to Paris, so Ross could never get there. And apparently, they don't have phones or e-mail in Paris...

There wasn't another 2 days or 2 weeks in the show it was only one hour. They had to tie it up in the hour and people would be more ticked if it was left open as an unknown. They had a season and finally this one hour to cram as much tie ups" to the characters as they could. It wasn't perfect but Ross and Rachelle was a HAD to be.

Not neccisarily....they are just giving what their viewing audiance (most of them) wanted to see. It's a nice change of pace from the writers who give the audiance only what the **writers** want to see.
That's what killed off many a series....the writers who only write what they, and not neccisarily their viewing public, wants to see.

and for what it's worth (besides the fact that it's ONLY A SIT-COM)...one could say that it was 'important' for ross to seize the moment. and, they at least did reference this in that they told ross that he was giving rachel an opportunity to meet a new man if she was left alone in paris. works well enough for me.

Once again, the writers are beginning to wise-up and start writing what the **audinace** wants amd not just what the **writers** want.
And like it, or not, the majority of the audience of "Friends" wanted to see Ross/Rachel together.
It could have been better, but a fitting ending, never the less.

My first thought was "well what's Rachel going to do for a job now??" She got offered and accepted a job with the old place, and then turned it down again anyway, so she probably won't be going back there.
I understand why it probably had to be written the way it did as far as the R&R situation -- but I really didn't like it. They had other, better-timed opportunities to get together and it never worked out -- why would they think it would now? None of their issues ever really got resolved.
But that's TV I guess.
