What does Syndicated mean?

i've heard people talking about Syndicated episodes, but what does Sydicated mean?

reruns

Not merely reruns, but reruns that NBC (or the production company or whomever) has licensed out to other networks to air in non primetime (which in most cases is at least 5 days a week)

Not always though. I remember reading that the makers of Red Dwarf got very excited because they'd just now hit 52 episodes which meant it could be aired weekly in syndication all year round. Then again where shows are made in series (don't even try it, its a uk show i can use our terms) of 6 I think maybe things work differently.
