OMG, Ross said he just wants to be friends with Rachel. Do you think there will ever be a chance those two will get back together again?! I mean, it's going to be so hard now that they have a baby and are living together, but still!!
And I so thought Rachel at the end was going to tell Ross how much she loves him and always had. One can only hope, even though he said he wanted to be friends, that somehow Ross will come around and shock us all by wanting to be with Rachel again!
Ah, no worries. Remember: we have a whole season to build up on that (and being that this may be the last season, the build up hopefully will be fantastic!).

Anyway, now that Rachel has Monica to take care of the baby, she really doesn't need Ross. (That's probably one of the reasons for the Tulsa plot - get Monica out of the city so Rachel can't rely on her.)

After how many hours of labor? A little help would be very much appreciated at that time. It wasn't like she didn't try. She was just so tired and stressed the baby picked up on the tension in mom so of course the baby cried. Babies are like sponges for picking up emotions that are in the air. Which is why this baby should not be subjected to the negative way Ross and Rachel treat each other.

The one thing that had me on the edge of my seat was that there weren't any sex jokes really, apart from the gay dig at Chandler and Phoebe saying something about Monica being really good in bed....
While I agree with you that the ongoing plot(s) are really lame and predictable so far (it seems like the question of R&R getting together is no longer "will they?" but "when will they?") at least the writers got their priorities right this time around. S8 was more a soapcom than a sitcom, S9 really makes me laugh again, although they've gone to really low levels, especially last week. 902 was more of a slapstick thing IMO. And also it seems like they write S9 with the people who've been watching since Day 1 in mind, there have been many jokes relating to older stories in the two new episodes, so that's a good thing, hopefully saves us from ratings stunts (there's always hope...).
I wonder where all the Joey fans have gone though, he's been acting a lot dumber this year (S9) than he has for ages and also the Joey and Rachel thing was sorted rather quickly and not in their favour... I'd have expected this storyline to last longer in the new year

At this point it's kind of insulting to the audience to give Ross the "let's just be friends" excuse. True, they can't solve everything in 3 episodes, otherwise what would they do in the other 21 episodes? It would also be different if there was near unanimous support for Ross and Rachel, but because there is a split in the audience, this tactic they're using in hopes to retain Joey/Rachel fans is sadly very transparent. I think by now we all know where this is heading, even if we don't like it.

No, actually what does not make sense is Joey falling in love with a woman, and then saying a few months later that woman and another person were "meant to be together". If that was what he truly believed, he wouldn't have fallen in love with her in the first place.
The writers are trying to write themselves out of a trap, and it's sad because you can actually easily tell they are doing it.
That's the point I've made in the original post. However, it's not like Friends has never had a character say one thing and do another.
I think Chandler's comic timing has been back this season. But from what I've read, there isn't much depth to this Tulsa storyline, so I'm expecting it to thud rather quickly.

Actually, I agree with you on that. His behavior has been confusing. Even if he's resigned to losing, this is being depicted as less painful and easier for him to do than it should be. Joey seems to be far more concerned about his relationship with Ross than his feelings for Rachel; I expected more ambivilence on his part.

What makes you think it is sorted out. It is pretty obvious Joey was very pleased and excited that Rachel said yes. Rachel did not say she didn't have feelings for Joey she just said she didn't want to marry him. It is still an open book. For me it is easy to view Joey using the "dumbness" factor to get out of a tense situation. However, it makes me cringe the way Ross is being written like an imbecile.

He may still have feelings for her, but 901 made it very clear that Rachel doesn't think of Joey as a possible love interest, more as a possible fall back, should all else fail. However if you do not agree with me and are still hoping for a J&R thing to happen, then that's cool too, albeit surprising to me, I thought this time around they really made it clear where they're going with a storyline, but obviously there is still room for speculation.
