if DS directs...

just a thought. see how DS thinks of himself as a director as well as an actor, and he does direct episodes, well. MP thinks of himself as a writer as well as an actor. does anyone know or think that he will be writing an episode? cause if he sits in with the writers, surely they'll let him right one of the episodes! any thoughts on how that might turn out?

Matthew Perry thinks of himself as a writer? The writers would have a field day with that one. :) He sat in on a writing session once in an earlier season and for some reason has received a lot of undeserved publicity for that. But in actuality, disregarding table reads, (when writers, producers, network execs, censors, and all the cast go over scripts), he doesn't do much in the writers' room. So at this point, no, I don't think he'll be writing an episode. But I guess anything's possible - you never know what could happen in the future.

No idea how an episode might turn out if MP co-wrote one but does anybody not like the idea of DS directing them? It seems that when he directs them he is never in the episode for more than the odd couple of scenes. Just my view,but I would prefer to DS with some decent storylines instead of directing - especially as it seems to mean sacrificing Ross in a few episodes.

Though we've got to remember there might be a certain level of bias involved. Besides when the writers are stuck they often run to Perry for a line. If he had the time I'm sure he's got it in him.

Just as MP was a writer before he joined Friends and I know he co-wrote a movie in '99. Wasn't the sitcom he was developing when he landed the role of Chanlder along a similar line to Friends?

well that could have been blown out of proportion in the same way. i suppose your just referring to that one moment in "Inside Friends". How do you KNOW they often run to him for a line?

I *know*. :) Besides MP helping out, during filming, on his lines has been mentioned in more than Inside Friends. Besides we all know that Matthew is a quick witted guy anyway so its not that inconceivable that the writers wouldn't be dumb enough to let a resource like Perry go to waste. . . . ahhh.

At the end of the day it's not like Perry needs the money or stress of a till dawn and beyond writers session.

It would be fun if Matthew Perry was to write an episode. But I'm sure that it wouldn't be just him. After all, it is about 12 writers that write the episodes, so. But it would be grand, that's for sure..!
