they were not in vegas, but in their usual studio in l.a. you can see this on the season 5 dvd special feature - "the one that goes behind the scenes" it's a documentation of how a friends episode is done, in this case it's the first episode of season 6 and this takes still place in "vegas"
the only time they left their studio was for ross' wedding in london!
