I think we're ignoring the obvious......

Over the past 7 years we've been watching poor Gunther gawking at Rachel in the hopes that she'll notice him too.

With all the hype about Ross and Rachel supposedly getting back together or us hoping that will be the case, I get the feeling that the writers and producers are going to end up linking Gunther and Rachel together, possibly towards the end of the series.

The reason this hasn't happened yet is probably because of a few things. One might be timing, another might be how good the storylines will be leading up to their relationship and beyond their relationship.

I don't think Ross and Rachel will ever get back together. That relationship is dead. There's been too much, will they or won't they stories to last a lifetime. If they were to get back together, it would have happened long ago, during the eppy TOW the Jellyfish. The mere fact that Rachel hasn't forgiven Ross for his escapade during "THE BREAK", and the mere fact that Ross won't accept responsibility for that escapade tells me that they will never get back together. Nuff said. Let's move on beyond R&R, please and thank you!!

Personally I always felt Gunther's crush on Rachel was meant to be a running gag until the end of the show. Gunther could have asked Rachel out tons of times but he never has, maybe because he really doesn't want to date her for fear of rejection..Anyway, it's only there to get a laugh. Gunther was barely used last season, I don't think he's going to get with Rachel. I think if they ever adress it, it's going to be a one episode plot..he asks her out, she says yes, he decides he doesn't really like her anymore and then starts crushing on say..Phoebe.

That's different from accepting that he shouldn't have slept with the copy girl, which he did in TOW the Morning After. Rachel isn't apart from Ross because of Chloe; she jumped an airplane to stop his wedding. She just decided she had to move on after she foiled his marriage.

The real reason R&R won't get back together is because the writers don't like them.

Some people will never move beyond R&R, as the succeeding couple has been so dull and the show has jumped the shark. Like it or not, R&R was the couple of the show's prime and C&M are the couple of the show's decline.

And I'm outa here. I really don't want to watch it anymore. It's been fun for many years, folks, but people keep asking why bother to watch a show you no longer like, and I realized...actually, for the most part, I haven't. Friends is dead, and Monica's the Undead.
