is season 7 the last season ?

I was reading the FAQ and it was no where to be seen if Friends would end at the end of this season. On the other hand, I've heard six months ago or so, that the 6 actors signed to play some more season(s), don't know how many. Can anyone light my candle and tell me what's right, and what's wrong ? Thanks a lot....

Oh god, let us hope this is the last year of this show that is going down in the interest department. Paying these actors the amount of money that they are getting and having to lay off many NBC workers due to the ratings decline is sickening at best. Meanwhile they take three very good shows off the air namely, the Pretender, Profiler and the Others to put the XFL on shows that they do not know what the public wants. Seems to me that they use a crystal ball instead of real viewers to create programming. Only one of it's fall shows is still on. Meanwhile CBS has picked up many new viewers. And all seven of its fall shows have been given the full season order. Its latest show, CSI has even been given the number two rated drama show on the air. It has even come away with a Golden Globe nomination. Just goes to show, NBC knows not what it is doing anymore. And for you Pretender fans, watch this coming Monday on TNT for the Pretender marathon. It all starts at 11AM EST airing the last nine episodes on NBC, leading up to the movie Pretender 2001 which airs at 8PM EST. At least TNT listened to the viewers where NBC pretends they do not exist. They deserve only contempt.

They don't care about what the public wants, only ratings. To them low ratings for The Protender, Profiler, etc weren't bringing in the $. If Profiler for example was one of the leading dramas on tv, then they would keep it around, and the cast would be getting a raise.
