So I reworked the source and added some CSS. It's now valid XHTML 1.0 strict, the size of the file came down from 127 KB to 29 KB, and the font family as well as the font size is now flexible (i.e. you see the page according to your browser settings).

The content is unchanged, of course.

Yeah, it's pretty amazing, isn't it? There actually is a perlscript called "demoronizer". Although it was originally created to correct some errors that arise because of Microsoft's own "extension" of the ISO 8859-1 / Latin-1 character set, it also fixes some other problems (wrongly nested tags etc.).
