Has there been any news on Lee's condition lately?

Raven

Last I heard was that he was supposed to go home on Friday, but I haven't heard anything since.

I heard PeachLilli's cries on the wind...

Thanks.

The most recent update from ASC has been posted by Jacqui. Lee is finally going home after Jen had some difficulties getting him released. At this point, Lee doesn't have much time left, I'm afraid. I have read at ASC that his tumor is growing so rapidly that it is probably as big now as the tumor they originally removed.

I don't think that we will hear from Lee on ATF again. I feel like this post sounds so callous--it isn't meant to be.

Hellooooo!!! After getting drunk in Vegas, Denise Mjelde doodled cat whiskers on his/her face and miaowed this little lot at a statue...

It's not. I feel like my post last night on the subject sounds callous.

Welcome to the club. :( I thought mine did too. But no, your post yesterday was really well written, and I literally started crying when I read it, but that was because of the *sweetness* of it. I kind of think we all think most of what we post about it is going to sound callous, just because it's such a sensitive subject...

I haven't gone back and checked or anything, but I cannot recall even a hint of callousness in any of the reports on Lee. Please don't confuse your reports with the tumor that is attacking his brain ;-)

I suspect it feels wrong because the news you are reporting is sad and even a bit .... can't think of exactly the word I want there, but I'm thinking of that feeling where you just want to go punch a wall somewhere because what that tumor is doing to his brain is not right. We do our best to make death as pleasant as possible, because that makes it easier to bear for everyone. I suppose it might be easier when someone dies of old age (or should I say "natural causes"?). It is harder when someone like Lee seems to be going too soon. Still, it is understandable that we try our best to make the passing as pleasant as is possible under the circumstances.

Personally, I think there is a place for being upset at death itself, especially at the tumor that is causing Lee's. As you all struggle to keep us up to date on what is happening to him, you can't help but interject your own frustration - and I for one appreciate it. You are, in a way, performing a ministry, among other things for someone like me who as yet has been unable to compose an appropriate expression of my own feelings about Lee's condition. In a way, as you express that frustration, you are affirming life itself. That doesn't make you feel any better about Lee I suppose, but it is good nevertheless.

Keep up the good work.

M'kay, how about we all relax and quit guilt-tripping ourselves? It doesn't lead anywhere useful. Anyone who knows me knows they can take my word for it. No one has been callous. If you had I'd have been down on you like a ton of bricks. It's a difficult situation. No one (I'd imagine) has any idea what to say or how to say it. I certainly don't. My emails to Jenny have been little short of disastrous. But it doesn't mean that we care any less about Lee. You know it, I know it, anyone who cares knows it.

Take care, all of you.

For what it's worth it didn't sound callous to me. It's difficult to know what to say or how to say it.

Thanks to all of you. I considered adding an emoticon or something in angle brackets, but that seems trite.

Oh sure, go ahead and use logic on us. <smile>

Thanks.

What's funny is that I can "tell you straight" and be in total denial at the same time.

And this is one place where the net seems extremely limited. Emoticons are fine when the subject matter is less serious, but they feel wrong to me here (I know some people have used them--please don't take my opinion as criticism). I become pretty much speechless when dealing with death in person, and to deal with it here--well, it's damn near impossible--then again, at least you can't see me crying.

I am just glad that Lee is home and that Jen will have some time with him away from the hospital. BTW, if anyone is from So. Cal. she could use some help running errands.

Denise

Even so, your speechlessness speaks volumes. It is a very appropriate response to death, and even though eloquence may escape you, something of the pain of Lee's death nevertheless comes through.

I can see what you mean about the emoticons, the only one I know how to make is a happy one and those are the kind that are most often used. One might have trouble identifying a sad one.

Sad one: :( (or :*( for crying, I think).

But yeah, here it just seems trite.
