European products @ Friends?

Hi, has anybody else recognized that there are several European/German products at the set? At the Central Perk they had the "Manner Schnitten". I don't know if Gunther sold these but there was a table full of them. And Monica and Ross do have Siemens mobile phones (Gigaset) and I'm not really shure but I think I saw them drinking "Becks" once?

Am I just wanting to see those things or do they really have European stuff in the US?

I am asking cause in Germany it is "cool" to have US-stuff like gum or a beer or stuff like that. So maybe it is vice versa?

Maybe someone can help me with my little "problem". ;-)

I didn't see that, plus it doesn't make sense. Btw.: "Milchschnitte" was the product my cousin missed the most in her au pair year.

Which episode?

I cannot recall seeing any identifiable real-life product name on the Friends set, but for Beck's it wouldn't be surprising, as it IIRC started as an export only beer, becoming available in Germany afterwards.

The USA don't have a closed market, although many of their inhabitants I got to know seemed to think of foreign products as local (e.g. Kraft Philadelphia or Nutella, even Adidas). Wait, I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a glass of Nutella in Joey's appartment, but don't know which episode.

In which strange part of Germany do you live, where US-American "beer" is considered "cool" regardless of its temperature?

Hello! I don`t want to be too dogmatic, but obviously not only US-people think of some European products as US-products but also some German people think of Austrian products as German products! :-) "Manner Schnitten" are an Austrian speciality and are by no way of German origin! I haven't even heard of "Manner Schnitten" at all. If Steffen wasn't German I'd think he meant something like "M�nnerschnitten", which I also don't know and most probably don't even exist. It also would be a contradiction in itself as "M�nner" means "men" and "Schnitten" means "chicks" and thus is female--well, it /can/ mean this.

So long let's make fun of Americans trying to pronounce �Porsche�.

Ok, American beer is not the best but in times where you mix beer with Coke and stuff and sell it .... Miller Beer or others can be declared as "cool"! - never mind! ;-)

Well, in 905 there was a bottle of J�germeister at the bar where Judy "watches" Emma. Not so much a surprise for me, though: J�germeister seems to be almost as popular in the US as in Germany--maybe because we have better alternatives.
