It's because November sweeps don't include Thanksgiving this year (October 31 through November 27) since it's later in November (28), so everything is shifted a week. Whenever that happens, they'll air four new episodes, a rerun, and then four more new episodes for November sweeps, as they are this year.

Not sure, but I think it's because they don't want to compete against Game 5 of the World Series, which is also on that day (on FOX).

I was told by an advertising friend that the term "sweeps" comes from the idea that during these periods they take a large sweep across the country to include a larger group than normal. You can refer to the numbers above.

The November sweeps are most significant of all quarterly sweeps because they represent the first large sampling after the beginning of the new season.
