Chandler's "invisible" dad

On this other forum about sitcoms there was this question about "invisible" characters, i.e. sitcom characters referred to in jokes but never seen or characters whose face is simply never shown. For example Maris in Frasier, Mr Steinbrenner in Seinfeld, Fran's dad in the nanny, etc. I also listed Chandler's dad as an invisible character but someone from the list pointed out that Chandler's dad could be seen in last year's Thanksgiving episode in a flashback and therefore doesn't count. Now of course I've seen the episode but I simply cannot remember whether they only showed the back of his head or his whole face. Can anyone help me out?

PS: If they did show his face, do you think that when the writers decide to introduce Chandler's dad to the show they will make sure the actor resembles (or maybe even *is*) the guy that plays the dad in the flashback? Or would that fall under the category of "unimportant continuity"?

I really don't remember seeing his fathers face. I think we just saw Chandler as a boy and the male servant, so they could have whoever they liked to play his father - and I hope they do introduce him one day!

Nope, we saw his mom and dad already, in the ep where Joey finds out his dad's having an affair... his mom came to the apartment to yell at him for telling her, IIRC, but I don't remember the episode name or number.

I'm a litlle doubtful as to whether they will ever introduce him. Maybe he was deliberately "written" as a running joke throughout the series.

What about ugly naked guy who lived in Ross's apartment? We never saw his face, just different parts of his hairy body. Here we have another invisible character.

Another one: Vera, Norm's wife in "Cheers".
