I was wondering who his stepfather is? Isn't Perry very close to him?

Apparently so.

The marriage happened when he was ten, according to one site. The same site lists his mother, Suzanne Perry, as press secretary to Pierre Elliott Trudeau. But why when I see her name, do I picture someone who did some news work at one point? Am I misremembering, or thinking of someone else?

He was born in 1969 in the US, but then his parents broke up less than a year after he was born. And then she married Keith Morrison when little Mathew was ten.

His Stepfather is not an actor...and Perry still visits Ottawa a lot...he attends all the Senators Hockey games
