Am I the only one that really hates Pheobe?

I know so many people thinks she's great, and maybe I don't HATE her, but I have rarely ever laughed at ANY of her lines. Whatever she says is either so stupidly dumb & annoying, or just annoying. Plus I prefer the way Matt delivers the dumb lines to her. Anyone else find her the least appealing of the six?

Whenever I see her, I think, "bitch." I have no clue why. Not my fave either. She irritates me. Kirsten

Well, yes, there are times when she can be a bitch. But I think she's the sweetest bitch around.

That's the thing about Phoebe, you never really know what you're going to get at any given time. Dating a woman like that would certainly be interesting. I wonder how long it would last between Phoebe and me.

For that matter, what kind of guy would it take to stick it out for the long run with her?

I agree, she's certainly been like that this season, but she's on a parr with Ross, he's been doing his usual "pathetic me" thing again.

Phoebe rules! The only one I could live without is Ross. Chandler was much more fun before he got married. Dont get me started on Joey this season.

Can't stand Monica. Ross and Phoebe are the best! I wish Joey would cheer up already.

Phoebe can be really funny sometimes, but she has had some really nasty moments where she came across as being bitter and mean as opposed to the happy fun character she was at the beginning. She is the one who I'm most likely to say "what's her problem" for any given episode.

Phoebe has good episodes and horrible episodes. I love Wise Woman Phoebe; I find Crazy Psycho Phoebe Who Inflicts Her Nutsy Ideas On Her Friends To Their Detriment to be as hard to watch as Screechy Monica, Dishrag Chandler, Mental Geller, and Princess Bitch.

I will say that the answer to "What's her Problem" is easier for Phoebe than for anybody else. Her problem is that she was living on the streets by the time she was 14 because her mother, who wasn't really her mother, committed suicide after her father walked out on them and she is not on speaking terms with her identical twin sister. She's been grasping desperately for family ever since. She never graduated from high school, she has no concept of a stable family life, and while she's braver and tougher than the lot of them she can be as cruel to those she knows as the people in her childhood have been to her.

I think Phoebe dislikes Chandler because he was given everything she didn't have. She's actually hissed at his self-pitying tirades about being a poor little rich boy. His parents, however odd, are both still alive. His mother loves him. They were affluent and they gave him everything, including the education to make a good living. His one marriage is succeeding.

She is a little kinder to the others. Ross had a cushy childhood, but adulthood has busted his you-know-what and he has been in some ways almost as badly hurt as she has. (Still, notice her disdain for his education.) Joey is uneducated and until recently he was poor. She just loves him. Rachel had major coping problems with the real world at first. Monica is also estranged from her slightly abusive parents. There is more for Phoebe to relate to with each of them.

This is the best explanation I've heard on this. :) However, its been eight years since she met Chandler. Surely, she doesn't hold his wealthy upbringing against him even now. Besides, she knows that Chandler didn't have a normal childhood with a gay father and alcoholic mother who let him watch orgyies when he was seven! Until he started going out with Monica, he didn't have much going for him apart from a job he hates although it paid well. Phoebe's comment about the poor little rich boy having a problem with the butler was made when they were comparing lifestyles. I don't think she should feel the need to pick on him on that point otherwise. She doesn't think much of Chandler for other reasons than past luxuries.

A scene in Season 4 comes to mind, where Phoebe tells off Monica and Rachel about their silly problems and what real problems are. Here too, she says all this only when she hears them moping about trivial things.

Phoebe is an enigma. Deep down she may resent the fact that the others had it made easier than she has. But, I don't think she dislikes any of them for it.

First...I would like to know how she can be a Masseuse (sorry can't spell) without a highschool diploma. You need to have highschool to get into massage school...which BTW is a tough program to be in...you need to know everything about the body and how it works, much like a Chriopactor (my old roommate was studying to be one and for his first year exam, the amount of info he needed to memorize made a pile 6 feet high).

Anyway...Pheobe is EVIL!

She plays dumb so her friends will just go "ahh...sweet innocent Pheobe" when what she really does is stir the pot in her manipulative ways to cause trouble. When she does this, usually the other friends we start at each other and Pheobe looks like the innocent bystander.

I don't think Phoebe has any so-called "problem" she is a very sweet character. And just because of her problems in life doesn't mean she cannot be a massuese. I think that she is not at all "mean" and "bitter" I think she is very aware of things and very open and honest. I think that all her observations are honest and that in all she does she has her friends best intrests at mind. I also think she is the most honest out of all six of them. Anyway all people have faults. Just because they are tv people does not mean that they are perfect. You guys criticize them for their human qualities. I would never in a million years use the word "bitter" to describe lovable fun Phoebe

I just want to clarify I don't think Phoebe has problems...but sometimes she gives attitude and just acts weird in general. And she can be mean. I do agree with you that they all have irritating qualities, and as a matter of fact I do like Phoebe. I'm just saying she can be a bitch once in a while, although I haven't seen much of that side of her this season.

I meant that the other way around-people criticize Monica and Ross way more than people criticize Phoebe.
