'Friends' Matthew Perry: Scandal Rumor
By Cathryn Conroy, CompuServe News Editor Fact: "Austin Powers" actress Elizabeth Hurley is pregnant, and the baby is due in May. She says unequivocally that the father is her former lover, millionaire producer Steve Bing. He says he doubts that, saying their five-month on-again, off-again relationship was not exclusive. Now Bing is hinting that the real father is "Friends" star Matthew Perry. Bing says Perry and Hurley had a romance while they worked on the movie "Servicing Sara" last year.
Shooting on the film had to suddenly stop when Perry was admitted to a rehabilitation center at the end of February to treat an addiction to prescription drugs. The Herald Sun quotes show business reporter Jeannette Walls as saying, "A source close to the entrepreneur says Bing is telling friends he believes Hurley and Matthew Perry were an item before the 'Friends' star went into rehab." Hurley is having nothing to do with it. Through her spokesman, she said she has never been involved with Perry. "She categorically denies she had any kind of relationship with Matthew Perry other than a professional one," the spokesman said. It gets curiouser and curiouser...
