I would like to see that miserable whiny slug they currently call Ross, played by Snaro, replaced by the original Ross played by David Schwimmer.
I remember reading somewhere in an interview with a producer that Mr. Schwimmer actually did play Russ, and putting Snaro in the credits was an inside joke. Annoyedly (that a word?) I don't remember where, so I have no solid proof to back this claim up. And for the original post, I wouldn't want any of them replaced! No matter how sniffling, annoyinh, sad, pathetic and whiney........well.......maybe......at least not Matthew Perry!

The last episode I saw was where Daphne and Niles dorve away from her wedding in the RV and while the episode was special I didn't really like it that much. There was something missing from it, I don't know what, maybe it wasn't funny enough. Anyway Niles will probably sleep with some girl who works at the wine shop after the pair take a break. (Snicker!!) I honestly truely hate Ross. I don't know why, but I don't think Ross is a great character, never was. He's whiny, he's controlling (remember his relationships? i.e. Rachel, Elizabeth). I mean, I can't understand why there are so many Ross and Rachel fans out there wanting to put these two back together. They are the past and to see them together again would be a waste of time. Ross is a dweeb. If he were replaced by any actor, I don't care who, even if it were Robert Downey Jr. <g>, I wouldn't care.

It's sentiments like this (and they are widely held) that confirms to me that the writers have given Ross the back end of the stick. You don't see people coming on here and saying that they hate Chandler (heaven forbid anyone say that on this forum!) or the others (except maybe Monica). But I disagree that Ross was never a great character. He was always a bit of a dweeb but there were many good things about him to offset it.
Laurie
I like Ross... and the writers have placed him in great situations that really make him shine (although I agree... lately he's becoming a bit overbearing). I always liked that the one that was the most quiet and shy was the one who was able to get married to people he truly cared about and was able to win over the person he'd loved so much for so long (granted, it didn't work out then, but we'll see). IMHO, he's the victim of bad writing, and that's getting him down, but as a whole, Ross is a great friend of the group
ROSS is a total LOSER and he doesn't deserve Rachel; I don't understand why people like him, because he's such a miserable and uninteresting character. Remember the episode he recalls how he found out his girlfriend was a lesbian? U could see how he was just dumbed stupidely, and this always happens to him. Or the episode where Phobes and Rach make fun of him while taking self defense classes? He's alwayd seen as a ridiculous person. I don't understand why he's friend with the "friends". Plus he's not really what u could call a cute guy... No, definately, Ross is the character I hate on the show and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.

character.
All of these events happening during or after the third season. Before you're hit with a backlash from some of the more die-hard Ross fans around here maybe you should remember Ross as we do. He wasn't the stupid, dumb, rage filled thing he's turned out to be. In the beginning he used to be a nice geeky guy, a little shy and a bit hurt from his divorce (where not only had his spouse committed adultery but it was with a member of the same sex). There was something sweet in the way Ross pined over Rachel with everything from monkeys to the statue of liberty stopping him from telling her how he felt. He was also facing fatherhood with Ben on the way giving some cool scenes with (the underused) Carol and Susan. After his initial goof up with the list (more of C&J's fault than his own) he managed to redeem hismelf through the prom video showing what a nice guy Ross was, something that we only catch glimpses of like in TOW The Chick And The Duck. Alas Friend's isn't a drama, Ross has to be funny, Carol isn't pregnant anymore and he's broken up with Rachel (multiple times). Being just a nice guy isn't funny (just look at what's happening to Chandler), according to the writers funny is being loud, annoying, psychopathic and stupid. I don't care really if he isn't as 'funny' anymore give us the old Ross back!
Ross is Monica's brother and Chandler's ex-roomate. He's also pretty close to Phoebe and was there for Rachel when she ran away from Barry. As for Joey, well Joey just likes anybody who gives him food now and again.
If I was female or gay I'd date him (well after Chandler of course :).
Always CC
Rachel doesn't deserve Ross..she treated him like crap.
I honestly can't see anyone else playing the parts, but I think that Joey could be played by a different actor. No offense to MLB, he's a great actor, but I think it's due to the writing that he's given.

Hey it's not like he didn't warn her, he was a desperate desperate man!
Chandler: Don't make me do anything that I'll regret. Monica: Ooh, what'cha gonna do, fat boy, huh? What?

Well it was cruel to even think of that! no matter how desperate! :)

You could argue he was doing it for her own good. Also the argument could be made that she was being cruel to him first.
Always CC (Who isn't the argumentative type. :)
He wasn't doing it for her own good, he was doing it for his own good! and I think that she was trying to help him, but didn't realise how bad it got, cause, well it's Monica, but he did what he did conciously!
Toni (who can't spell, and is the arguementative type)
Though if you get stung on the back or the face I'm guessing you'd be resorting to cream, unless you really have a thing for golden showers.

How the hell can anyone even question that Russ was played by David Schwimmer. Don't you people know how to match a face to itself? Its the same freakin face.

Big, long sigh. I see my joke failed. When asked whom I would replace, I made a sarcastic comment. I suggested that the current incarnation of Ross, whom absolutely nobody likes (including me) was being played by Snaro as opposed to David Schwimmer, whom I suggested played Ross when he was a likeable, three-dimensional character. I know Snaro and Schwimmer are the same person. I was *pretending*, humorously, that they were different in an attempt to make a joke about my disgust over the direction they've taken with him in the past two years. I said I wanted the older, more effective version back.

I'd rather see Gunther replaced by someone else. After all, he's the same shmuck who wanted Rachel's affections ever since she was employed at Central Perk.
