Friends 10th season: how did NBC pull it off?

So how did NBC persuade the Friends cast & crew to have one more season?   Did
they give them outrageous salaries for the 6 actors next year?  You can't do
much better than $1 million per episode, which they made this year (that's $24
million a year!)    I thought CC and JA wanted to start their own families, and
with CC almost 40 and JA almost 35, their biological clocks are ticking...(LK
already has a family; her pregnancy was written into the show, when she had
triplets for her half-brother)

I can understand why the guys wanted to keep doing it, with their movie careers not nearly as bright as the women's, and not having the concern of a "biological clock", but it must have taken a lot of negotiating to get the women on board.

Main thing was that for NBC - the money was no option - they don't have any show to replace "Friends" as the top-rating TV series, so it was both a matter of ratings as well as prestige. + they probably promised the cast everything they want - as well as if any1 from the cast gets pregnant (you're right - it's almost the last bell for CCA), they would incorporate it in the script.

And i don't think that anyone except JA has a "bright career" right now. and even concerning her I must say that one good flick can but doesn't have to elevate you to great stardom. Unfortunately for her I believe that she will always be in the shadow of her husband concerning "popularity" not necessarily the "acting". And it's the popularity that give you big checks.

So basically IMO it's the case of milking the cash-cow for the crew until something greater comes their way and paying the money for the NBC because of their lack of ability to create something as good as Friends.

The movies all 6 have produced have been mostly turkeys, so all NBC had to do was show them $$$$$$$$ for a tenth series, as oblivion comes very quick in hollywood once your not doing top rating TV work or your movies go nowhere except the local video store.

The womens movies haven't exactly set the world on fire, even JA's current high profile may be just be a flash in the pan.

As for families CC has miss carried twice already, and JA hasn't seriously tried to get pregnant yet. I predict JA will be the first to have a baby and that will put a strain on CC's marriage, as she is already married to a big kid, and with her biological systems starting to close-up-shop the next time CC gets preganant will be make it full term or get divorced, if divorced David after crying to the tabloids will get in with a bit of holltwood fluff and be a daddy in a matter of a year.

Of course I could be wrong. :)
