Season Finale's thoughts (Spoilers).

I just saw the finale and in my opinion is one of the best of the show. Funny (not cracking) and well written. And I don't mean it because of the Joey and Rachel's kiss but for the amazing way of developing all the characters. Ross was a great guy again, funny, nerdy and insecure.

Monica's hair was an hilarious plot point and she even had the chance to bright in one of those Mon-Chandler scenes of "I love Yous" at the end of the ping-pong match. The way both of them messed up with Mike and David was terrific and the consequences were better.

That leads us to Mike (Paul Rudd) and Phoebe. I think that his comeback was well developed and believable. I finally see him as one of the group now. He's a counterpart for Monica and he fits into the gang because he is in love with Phoebe for real. Let�s hope the writers give them more plot points next season.

Phoebe had her good lines ("It's like watching porn" "You're leaving the Supremes") as usual but I certainly saw her eyes gleaming when she accepted Mike back. I think Lisa K. is glad with the way in which the writers are heading her character to.

J.A. and M.L. had their now famous chemistry during Ross' speech ("Homo Erectus") and when Joey padded Rachel's boob knowing that was the only sex she would have that week.

My criticism is just for the last turn. I don't dig that Joey finally kissed Rachel after seeing his best friend kissing his ex-girlfriend. Too "Days Our Lives" for me. Couldn't it be just for love and not for spite? Why do we have to stand more episodes dealing with the consequences of Joey's bad action? Because we know that good-hearted Joey will tell Rachel sooner or later. Overall 9 out of 10. One of my favourites episodes this season. No, I don't believe the J&R kiss was for spite in return for the R&C kiss. It was the "green light" for Joey because the entire time he's been in love with Rachel, he's never acted upon it because he thought R&R would end up together. BUT, when Joey spotted Ross kissing Charlie, he realized that if Ross REALLY wanted to be with Rachel, they would have been together by now and that was the opening he needed to act upon his feelings for Rachel without any guilt feelings. ~~~ Kathy

Joey seeing ross kiss charlie was indeed a green light for him, but it was not b/c he was "enlightened" and thought that if ross and rachel were going to be together it would have happened by now. I don't believe it's that at all. Instead, this is what i believe happened: Recently, Joey has been a better friend to ross than ross has been to joey. Throughout the season, Joey didn't pursue rachel and tell her his true feelings b/c he's ross' friend. And really the only thing good that ross did for joey is telling him to tell rachel how he feels and that if the feeling is mutual, to pursue it. But cut to the season finale. Joey and rachel's feelings are both out in the open but joey realizes once again that nothing can happen b/c he's ross' friend. Ross and charlie's feelings are also exposed, and ross at first refuses charlie's advancements b/c of joey. But then he gave in, showing that he's not a great friend (and also showing, what i think, how much the writers have ruined his character, b/c 6 years ago, ross would never go after charlie). When joey sees ross and charlie kissing he doens't think that ross and rachel would have been together by now if they were going to reunite; but he thinks he now has a reason to go after rachel. While he wants to be w/ rachel, the only reason he went back to her room was b/c he was betrayed by ross. He thought "i'll show you. i'll get you back" EVEN THOUGH he actually wants to be w/ rachel. the ONLY reason he went after rachel was to get back at ross. If you watch the part of them kissing again, u can see joey get angry. So going after rachel WAS out of spite, despite the fact that he wants to be w/ her.

Ross had NO PROBLEM jumping on Charlies lips even though she just told him that she and Joey had broken up, whereas Joey refrained from giving in to Rachel earlier. Ross was the selfish one here, as usual. It's always about Ross... (remember "this is wierd for ME!" from TOW Elizabeth's dad dates Rachel?) Selfishness to the bone. It was OK for Ross to date one of Rachel's sisters even though it freaked her out, but when she wanted to date Elizabeth's dad, Ross freaked out only because it made HIM feel weird. Don't you remember him not dating ANYONE when Rachel asked him not to while she was pregnant? Ross would do anything Rachel asked of him. My gosh, he was practically a doormat!

Paul wasn't Ross's brother, though. That's what made the difference. If I had a sister, I would feel very wierd if my ex dated her. The only connection Paul had to Ross was Elizabeth. If you remember, Paul told Ross to stop dating his daughter, but he didn't stop. It was only because of Ross's little "love machine" blackmail that Paul gave in. Anywho, regarding the part where Rachel didn't want Ross to date anyone at the end of her pregnancy, I can certainly understand that. At that point in pregnancy, a woman is miserable and hormones running amuck. Yea, women want their spouse/partner/baby's father to be at their beck and call which is totally not uncommon. Ask any pregnant woman!!! Rachel didn't have a problem with Mona at all. However, when Rachel had the date with the soap actor, Ross - again - freaked out. I would say that R&J romance is gonna be a very short romance! And Rachel will realized that she want to be w/Ross & Ross will realizes that he ALWAYS wanted her!!!!!!!!

yes that's exactly what i said. Glad we're in agreement that ross is not as good a friend as joey. And u're right joey is not a spiteful person, but i certainly do not think ross is a spiteful person as he has shown absoutley no evidence in the past of being spiteful--never did he want to get any of the friends back for something. In this instance, joey wasn't trying to *hurt* ross, but it's obvious he DID want to get back at him, since he was so clearly angry. He was thinking that if ross did it, then he would too. It wasn't to spite ross, it was just that since ross did it, he could too. and ross would have no right getting mad at joey for kissing rachel, since ross kissed charlie first.
