Thoughts on Joey and Rachel in premiere

Joey and Rachel never made sense to me but however, after seeing the season premiere they make less sense. They just have no chemistry, Joey was having his dumblines again with Rachel acting more like her more mature self from 8th season that the writers tried to lower in the 9th so she'd be more compatible with Joey. From seeing them together in Wednesdays episode, it's just a hormonal attraction and whatever spark they might have had in the 9th season is gone and I think the writers are doing this on purpose. Anyone else see this?

I am 100% in agreeance with you on this. As I have stated before they act like 2 horny kids who just need to get it out of their system. I don't see any compatibility here for anything real. I knwo the J/R fans are twisting in thier seats right now but its how I feel. I still don't think that R7R should happen either although it still might. After seeing Ross w/ Charlee I truly feel that they are a great match & TPTB should recognize this & keep the 2 of them together. I have read that they plan to tie everything up by the season finale

S P O I L E R * * * S P A C E * * * With Joey moving off to CA. to pursue his acting career (and give premise to the spin off) but what they are going to do with the rest of the cast is beyond me. We all know that Pheobe is marrying Mike. I am doubtful that they will have Ross marry for a 4th time. & with 17 episodes left there really isnt sufficent time to make us fall in love with a new beau for Rachel (is there). I really would like to see Ross & Charlee stay together but something tells me that its going to be R & R that TPTB have already predestined to be together. Something I read once on the MSN site that went a little something like this....

Writers promise that the Joey-Rachel-Ross love triangle will be resolved quickly, with Rachel and Joey definitively parted by the season's third episode. Aisha Tyler - who plays Charlie, the comely paleontologist over whom Ross and Joey competed toward the end of last season - will only appear in four or fewer episodes this season, suggesting that she will no longer be used as an impediment to Ross and Rachel's reunion (because if you really think the series will end without their getting back together, you must be unfamiliar with how TV works, and possibly Amish).

I'm so glad that someone agrees with me. I really thought that after I wrote it I would be stoned by Joey and Rachel fans :) I do think that this is being done on purpose I really do. As far as Charlie goes I can't really like her too much being she "did" do Joey wrong sort of. The only question I have is that Joey is not as young as he used to be.... and I wonder if the show is going to be like "Cheers" with an aging guy like Sam Malone acting and trying to pick up girls. Now I know I'm not alone when I think Ross and Rachel should be together - it's the only thing that makes sense. They have both had a lot of growing up to do, oats to sow etc., and each of their affairs have only contributed to what it takes to appreciate a real relationship. When Ross isn't doing something really stupid, or "Ross-y", he's quite mature and Rachel has that about her as well. There was a hint of the "forget who's for who and just be ordinary comical friends" in the premier so I'll still be watching!!!!!!!!

I agree with you on that, I personally want to see Rachel and Ross together. It stinks that we had to go soooo many years for it to happen again, I just hope they don't get back together in the LAST episode because I would like to see them together for a while.

I couldn't believe its been six years.... as Rachel states it. Is that true? Its been six years since they dated? WoW!!! I had no clue it had been that long. I guess because of their chemistry & the constant pining for each other it made the time fly by so much faster. Add to that, I'm guessing their marriage didn't coun't.

Exactly! That shows me that the writers do indeed plan to put them back together and I too hope it will be for more than just the last episode. I would enjoy watching them settle down together with Ben (more involved in their lives), Emma and possible the other son Ross planned for them six(?!?) years ago on the way. You know, the morally-correct-American-happily-ever-after kind of thing. The writers are so good that I'm sure it would be wonderful. they always make every day life so funny. Tonight on Entertainment Tonight they announced that according the Newsweek Magazine this week, the Joey-Rachel relationship wouldn't last long and apparantely Courteney Cox had hinted that Rachel and Ross would end up together. Also, Access Hollywood said the same thing; that Joey and Rachel wouldn't end up together. I personally want it to be Rachel and Ross. I mean, Ross has loved her since high school. They should end up together. I don't see how Joey and Rachel would work because if they did get together and get married, then how about Joey's spinoff? They couldn't just cut his wife out of it. And they said that none of the other friends would be on that show...only Joey.

Not to mention Emma!

UGH! I can't watch the screen whenever R&J are on together. Bleh! They are nothing alike, have nothing in common. It just sickens me. we have been through this whole thing before.

I hope Rachel and Ross end up together by the end of the season. Until then I am going to continue hiding under my covers whenever R&J have a scene together.

Actually, I don't really care WHO ends up with who, I'm just sooooo sick of Monica.....ugh! I HATE what her character has turned into the past few years. She no longer has any personality, she's just nasty and petty and annoying. I would really like to see something happen (in a good way) to Gunther. He is one of my favorites, his expressions are just too perfect. Please do NOT bring back Richard (played to death, and wasn't funny ever!), or Janice (GAG), or David. (I like Hank Azaria, but he never fit in that role...made no sense to me at all.)

David rocks. I so hope he'll come back, but when I spoke to Hank Azaria in London it seemed as if he didn't think he'd appear on Friends again :(
