Friends episodes without sound?

Hi folks,

I saw that some people posted here saying that they downloaded episodes of Friends and heard the sound but didn't see anything. With some episodes I downloaded it's the other way round: I can watch them but there's no sound :-) (from the top of my head: episodes 701+702 and 719+720). I installed DivX 4.12 and everything, and all other episodes run smoothly, apart from the ones I mentioned.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

And while I'm typing: What's the latest version of the Friends FAQ cause the most up-to-date version I found was updated on Jan 29, 2001. :-)

Well, I've had the same kind of problem with other .avi files, and the solution was to uninstall the Divx Codec version 4.*, then find and install and old version like 3.11, and finally reinstall the new one (there, you will be sure to answer "no" to the question about using the new codec to read stuff encoded with Divx v3). Apparently, some file was cracked in the older version, but is unchanged by the new one.

Try nimo codec pack, it was reclomended to me at this news group and it worked well :-)

I second that, u'll need it to watch 306 aswell. Although it did mess up my comp :(

I actually took the easier way cause I found other, slightly larger files of the mentioned episodes and figured those must be newer encoded versions. And well, they were, so now I have all episodes I needed with video and sound. :-)

My god, it's so great to be up to date and everything! Two years ago, someone copied the first five seasons for me and there I was with the Las Vegas cliffhanger, and now that I finally have a computer that is able to play large avi-Files I can watch all the missing episodes! :-)

Sorry for babbling, I'm just excited about the opportunity to finally get all the stuff I need, being the Friendsaholic that I've become over the years. :-)
