Lisa Kudrow on Cheers

It was interesting to catch 26 year-old Lisa Kudrow's Cheers episode (#809, Two Girls for every Boyd), originally broadcast Nov. 23/89. She appears a little heavier than she was for the start of Friends and looks kind of creepy with black hair, although my guess is it was dyed from her natural brown hair for the part. She is Emily, an actress playing opposite Woody in a community theatre play. Woody cannot do romantic scenes with Emily because he feels he is cheating on his blond girlfriend Kelly. For the sake of the play, Emily has to loosen him up: "Let's try improvising a little". Despite her appearance, Lisa's naive innocence and natural charm shine brightly. The episode was directed by James Burrows, as were a lot of others, who also directed some early episodes of Friends, as I recall. I wonder if he had some influence in her getting on Friends. Anyways, if you get a chance, don't miss it.
