David Schwimmer 3B/4B coincidence

I saw an old (pre-Friends) episode of NYPD Blue last week that David Schwimmer guest starred in, and David Caruso's character referred to Schwimmer by his apartment number, "4B". In the 5th season Friends episode TOW the Girl Who Hits Joey, Ross is referred to by his apartment number as "3B". I thought it was a clever "coincidence"!
