Lisa Kudrow wants to clarify recent remarks in which she said a romance between Phoebe and Joey (Matt LeBlanc) on Friends was inevitable. "It's just a question of when it will happen," Kudrow told the Calgary Sun. "Maybe they'll save it until the very last episode. Maybe [the writers] will keep us all hanging on."

Or, maybe not.

"I don't think it's going to happen," Kudrow tells TV Guide Online. "I know that the writers feel, 'Jesus, God. We've had Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), and now we have Monica (Courteney Cox-Arquette) and Chandler (Matthew Perry).... No. No!' We can't be that show where it's just these six people that hook up in different couples."

Off-screen, Kudrow says the six Friends remain as tight as ever � a fact she believes has been integral to the show's continued success. "From day one, we had made the decision that these people were supposed to be good friends, so let's get to know each other," she notes. "And it turned out that we all liked each other and we all enjoyed each other and we all make each other laugh."

Something else that makes the Emmy-winning actress giggle are reports that she was the mastermind behind the cast's highly publicized contract renegotiations that netted each actor $750,000 an episode. "It was hilarious. I actually enjoyed it," marvels Kudrow, who plays a TV lotto-ball girl opposite John Travolata in the dark comedy Lucky Numbers, opening Friday. "The idea of me � there are six of us and we each have at least two or three [reps]: a manager, agent and attorney... the head of CAA, William Morris, all of these big shots who have been doing this forever. And that I'm sitting in a room with them saying, 'Alright, here's how it should go,' makes me laugh really hard."

All kidding aside, Kudrow concedes it's a little frustrating that her salary continues to be a topic of national debate. "People don't usually go around asking people what they make," she groans. "You just don't do it. You wouldn't even ask someone who owned Time Warner (the company behind Friends), 'How much are you worth?'" � Michael Ausiello
