Question for r/r and r/j fans.

I wonder what it would have been like if Rachel had smiled and said, "Oh Joey I feel the same way about you!"...then show r/j cozy in the next eppy and then fans reading the spoilers for 822 find out that r/r kiss towards the end of the eppy? Now what would have been the reaction of r/j fans?

Likewise what would be the reaction of r/r fans if the writers ignored the r/r kiss and went with a r/j romance instead in season 9? More to the point would this make sense to r/j fans?

What I'm reading into your questions is that whichever direction they take the show, one group will undoubtably be let down. Furthermore, bouncing back and forth between the two would only create chaos. So, they should pick a tack and stick with it.

Does that sound reasonable? Or more importantly, can they do that and still keep the show funny? I think they can, but then, I'm also one who believes that we don't need outrageously funny episodes each week. I like the occasional sentimental episode. (I said occasional though.)

Yep. And they can keep it both sentimental and funny on occasions at the same time. Take a look at some of season 2 and 3 eppies.
