711 "TOW All the Cheesecakes"

Rachel comes home one day to find Chandler eating a delicious cheesecake which should have been delivered to Mrs.Braverman downstairs. She calls him a thief, but she can't resist its creaminess either, and together they greedily gorge themselves.

As Chandler predicts, Mrs.Braverman orders a free cheesecake to replace the one that she didn't get, but this too comes to his door. Somehow the guilty pair manage to resist temptation, leave the box outside the lady's door, and then go to lunch together as a substitute for their longings.

Following their meal, which somehow neither of them paid for, Chandler & Rachel notice the cheesecake box is still in the hallway, so overcome with lust they make excuses for Mrs.Braverman's absence, until Rachel realises she can hear the old lady, scoops up the box, and the pair scuttle guiltily up the stairs!

After eating a third of the cheesecake they are interrupted by Joey, so Rachel tells him that it's tofu to put him off, then later on Chandler is shocked to find her eating the cheesecake without him. She tries to deny it, but her mouth is full, so he offers her $100 to whistle, but cheesecake squirts out instead!

Chandler is furious with her, but she blackmails him by warning him that Monica & Joey mustn't find out, or they'll be branded as dessert stealers living outside the law. Greed overwhelms the pair as they fight over the remaining cheesecake, until Rachel threatens to tell Monica that he said her cheesecake was dry & mealy!

Chandler agrees to spilt the cheesecake, and to Rachel's delight she gets the slightly larger half, and warns him that she's not prepared to share it - at which point she trips & drops her cheesecake on the hall floor! Chandler is brilliant as he gloats at her loss, refusing to share any of his cheesecake - so the bitch knocks his cheesecake onto the floor too!

In the end, Joey catches his fallen friends eating crumbs of cheesecake off the floor, still bickering. For a long long moment Joey looks down on them with fatherly concern, and as Rachel & Chandler silently await his judgement, Joey pulls a fork out of his jacket, and joins them!

When Ross is invited to his cousin Frannie's wedding, (as are as his parents), he says nothing to his sister until the day before, since the whole family has been invited except for her, even though the pair were inseparable as girls until Frannie started trying to undress Monica.

Monica is understandably annoyed, but not screechy, to hear this - but when Ross lets slip that he's taking a date, Monica turns all girlie & whiny on him until he agrees to take her instead.

At the reception Monica looks very elegant, but feels like an intruder, so keeps telling everyone that she's a BLOOD relative, which upsets Ross. He orders Monica to be nice to Frannie, so his sister reveals it was his cousin who found his Playboys, and showed them to their mother!

Finally the siblings confront Frannie. Monica is properly indignant (but still not screechy) about being snubbed, until she meets the bridegroom, who turns out to be an old flame of Monica's named Stuart, and now they realise why Frannie didn't invite her.

The others are surprised to learn that Joey & Phoebe get together for dinner once a month to talk about them. However, at the last minute Joey cancels because he has a date, on the grounds that it's okay to let a friend down if there's a possibility of sex.

Phoebe is so furious that she middle-names him, saying that boyfriends & girlfriends come & go, but this is for life. Joey apologises, postponing dinner by 24 hours, and even offers to pay for himself!

But next day Phoebe enters Central Perk to find David the Scientist Guy waiting for her, six years after she fell in love with him, yet sent him away to Minsk to pursue his career, breaking her heart. Sadly he is only visiting New York for a conference, and he must leave that night.

Poor Phoebe is instantly smitten, but she remains true to her principles, until Monica cajoles her into compromising her loyalty to Joey, by rushing through dinner & meeting David afterwards. However, Monica tells Chandler who tells Joey, who deliberately dawdles through the meal.

Phoebe has no choice but to confess, and since Joey is really ratty with her, she walks out just in time to find David, dragging him off to her apartment for sex. Much later, the pair kiss goodbye, Phoebe staying happy for David, to send him away happy. They tell each other that they love each other, not daring to say the actual words, kiss passionately, and then they part forever.

Then Lisa Kudrow is incredible as Phoebe sees Joey watching her, loses her control, and begs him to yell at her tomorrow. But instead her friend is warm & comforting, and she falls into his arms in floods of tears wailing that the only guy she's ever been crazy about has gone.

Joey tries to reassure her, but with Phoebe's criminal record she is not allowed to have a passport, and unless Joey can achieve the positronic distillation of subatomic particles before David does, she may never see him again. Joey gamely replies he'll give it a shot, while he holds her tight, and cuddles her...

Chandler & Rachel were very funny as they descended into the pit. Their chemistry together was fantastic, which is no surprise for Miss Aniston seems to have that effect on Schwimmer & LeBlanc as well as Perry. What a pity she seems unable to lift Eddie Cahill, whose Tag is as dull as ditchwater. Anyway the cheesecake story, which on paper seems nothing, was brought alive by two wonderful performances, and it easily held up the comedic end of this episode.

I always look forward to seeing the Geller siblings together, but here they were merely okay. Monica was not screechy when you consider the circumstances - but after the welcome return of Old Ross, he was doing that wide-eyed "who me?" look from the old Mental Geller days, even if he wasn't being so annoying. Their story was interesting without being funny, since it needed a surprise ending to sell the whole plot. Why on Earth didn't the bridegroom turn out to be someone we knew?

Phoebe & Joey's story was virtually without laughter, and I absolutely adored it. With LeBlanc's able support, Miss Kudrow pulled out all the stops for a staggering performance in what was a sublime tragedy. Her moral stance with Joey, her betrayal of her beliefs, her bravery for David, and especially her collapse in Joey's arms, were all totally wonderful. Situation comedy need not be funny to be good.

At last, a Chandler & Rachel story, the first since Season 4 (when he procured dates for her in 410 "TOW the Girl from Poughkeepsie"), even though we've had every other possible pairing since then.

The name "Braverman" seemed very familiar, but it turns out to belong to a colleague of Drake Ramoray in 211 "TOW the Lesbian Wedding". And it seemed at first that Mrs.Braverman had replaced Mr.Heckles, but in fact she lives on the ground floor, just off the lobby.

It was nice to hear that Chandler & Rachel still lunch together, as we learnt in 320 "TOW the Dollhouse".

Something new to add to the growing list of Things That Joey Won't Eat, tofu. I know that not everyone likes this meat substitute, but even so I'm surprised that omnivorous Joey wouldn't touch it.

According to the filming report by CGleason9, JA & MP were laughing so hard throughout their final scene that they had to keep redoing it. JA laughed the hardest when MLB kept eating the cheesecake even after the director said cut, because JA & MP never actually ate any of it.

A test to see if you are a true fan - do you keep a fork in your coat?

Rachel has come a long way, hasn't she? From a princess who can sail a boat but not brew coffee or do laundry; humbled as a waitress yet proud enough of the accomplishment to be insulted by her suitor; liberated by Joey ("You need the fear"/"Fortunata Fashions"); sequentially betrayed by Ross, Phoebe, Joanna & Joanna; finding her feet in the fashion game, yet losing her reserve in dropped spaghetti; comprehending a moo point; and now she's eating food off the hallway floor...

Monica & Frannie were inseparable from the ages 7-9, and Monica first met Rachel when she was 6. Does this mean Rachel didn't become Monica's best friend until they were 9, or is it as we suspect that they were mainly schoolfriends - when at home, Monica had Frannie, and Rachel had Mindy?

Everybody seems to be coming out this season (they're not of course) and here it was Monica's turn as she confessed the intimate details of her close relationship with Frannie, who also had heterosexual leanings towards Ross.

Chandler casually mentioned that he did undress his cousin Glenn, which might have been quite innocent if he was a baby or disabled. However Monica seemed to know all about this, and immediately shut him up. Now, Chandler is not gay, but what sort of household did he grow up in, where the Bings shared their male lovers?

Jack & Judy were supposed to be at the wedding. Why didn't we see them?

Frannie's mother is Aunt Cheryl, and we also met Aunt Millie, neither of whom have been mentioned before, even though we've heard of Aunts Lillian, Iris, Phyllis & Sylvia, plus Uncles Edward & Nathan.

Why did Millie insist on kissing her nephew Ross on the lips, but totally ignored Monica? Frannie immediately knew who Monica was, so did Millie not recognise her niece now that she's thin?

I did not need to check if there has ever been a Stuart in "Friends", (since it's my name), but the nearest match is Stu Vincent in 321 "TOW a Chick. And a Duck". Although he offered Monica a necklace (which she rejected) in the seventh grade, he can't be Frannie's new husband since he was the Health teacher!

Some have claimed that Monica was screechy at the wedding, but was she?

Was Monica entitled to be annoyed that she had to blag her way into her own cousin's wedding? Doesn't she calm down even before meeting Stuart?

We hear that Joey still works on "Days of Our Lives", (his character Dr. Drake Ramoray is in a coma), so the "Friends" writers have not forgotten this storyline as some critics have claimed.

It was nice to hear Joey's middle name is Francis, but can't Phoebe get so angry with Monica E. Geller that she middle-names her? Didn't she find out what it was after the Race Car Bed incident?

Phoebe also angrily middle-named Rachel Karen Green, just as she did once before in 519 "TOW Ross Can't Flirt", but we already knew about this from her book in 111 "TOW Mrs.Bing". That's *three* mentions of Karen, and yet we *still* don't know what Monica's E stands for!

David originally went to Minsk for three years, not six, which sounds like an error, but isn't it known for scientific & other projects to take far longer than originally expected?

Phoebe says that Minsk is in Russia, which is factually incorrect, it's in Belarus, but then many people refer to countries which were once part of the Soviet Union as "Russia". If Phoebe ever did visit Minsk before she moved in with Monica, then at that time the region was known as Belorussia, which could be mistaken for "Russia".

International conferences last longer than one day, so why didn't David contact Phoebe earlier? Was he too scared?

We see Joey getting changed, revealing he wears boxer shorts - but this is not a continuity error as some have claimed, because he does not wear his own clothes when he's at work, and in 302 "TOW No-one's Ready" he said that he doesn't go commando in another man's fatigues.

Joey & Phoebe dined at Iridium, which is the restaurant where Monica worked until she was fired in 205 "TOW Five Steaks and an Eggplant"; but is the restaurant actually called "Cafe Des Artistes", but for some reason it has "Iridium" written on the front?

If Hank Azaria sounds familiar, he performs a number of voices in "The Simpsons", including Apu, Moe, Chief Wiggum, and the Comic Book Guy.

What other long-lost guest stars would you like to see come back?

Or will David remain in Minsk forever, exiled not by his work but the determination of the producers to focus on their ensemble, such that one day Phoebe will be forced to settle for a gentle love for the rest of her life, while keeping David safe in a corner of her heart?

I'm surprised you didn't quote the famous example of Harry S Truman which caused so much trouble between reporters and their editors. It took years for newspapers to accept that "S" was a full word, one letter long - and then the president's wife Margaret Truman published her biography with the title "Harry S. Truman". She said that she preferred the inaccurate version rather having to answer inquiries. Also, it's known that Harry tired of the battle, for some of his signatures do contain the period.

You saw that as guilt? It just looked to me like worry (we're going to lose this) and relief (we didn't). Still, I don't think this would be considered a crime. Okay, I thought you'd put the two as separate offenses. But don't forget that Monica was just guessing about the 48. The age of consent is actually different in every state, and until sometime in the mid-90s, it was actually *14* in Pennsylvania (then went up to 16). So I suspect her number was overestimating. In fact, if I remember correctly from the Amy Fisher/Joey Buttafuoco case, the age of consent in NYS is 17, which would mean she didn't break any laws in Ick Factor (it doesn't matter whether it would have been a violation in another state, only that it's not a violation where you did it!).

I think it was her allowing the wrong bed to slip by because of her attentiveness, and not signing with a false middle name, that had Phoebe feeling guilty. The fake middle name might have been the one hight point of the whole experience. ;)

Oh, JA and MP did a wonderful job with the cheesecake story. They were hilarious. And Joey carrying a fork was just so. . . . Joey. That story was pure fun. The wedding story was just okay, I think. Phoebe/David were heartbreaking.

Well for starters, if you listen to what they say on the DVD, which has much better sound quality, it's *definitely* an eff, then an unstressed vowel, then an ell, then a long ooo, another ell, and a short ahh.

Now, my reference book says "Falula", and the subtitles say "Felula", so I looked in the IMDb - but no actress has a name like that.

However, there is Tallulah Bankhead, and if you alter the initial this gives "Fallulah" as a model. By combining them it's two votes to one for the 'a', which anyway sounds more like what Phoebe & the jester said, a single middle 'l', and no final 'h', hence "Falula".

However, this is exactly what the reference book said, which seems biased, and also the single 'l' in the middle means that the 'u' is trying to make the first 'a' go long, so with deference to the great Miss Bankhead, it's a double 'l', hence "Fallula".

Now sweetie, I recognise that the above is not the most convincing of arguments, so I'm open to suggestions from the fourth letter onwards.

The whole thing--Phoebe/David made Phoebe/Joey possible and poignant. This makes me hope more than ever that Phoebe and David are ultimately reunited for good on the show. I'm sorry, but if the show ends of with the main six all paired up with one another), I'll be disappointed. If they find a way to make R & R work, fine. But let's see Phoebe/David; Joey/Kate (or Joey/someone else). Let's mix things up.

We(in South Florida at least) have premium channels. Those are the mvoie channels with no commericals. And if you don't have them then you get a free preview for a weekend. Like around Christmas you'll get HBO and Thanksgivinig could be Showtime. A couple of times we have had "free preview weekend" for more than a weekend. They just "forget" to turn it off.

Then we have descrambler boxes where they descramble the channel that is fuzzy. Any and all of them. Movie channels to porn! And THOSE are illegal. I think thats how most people who get "free" cable do it. I don't think anyone really goes out and messes with the wires.

I don't know what organisations who give out grants are like in America. But over here, if you get a grant for 3 years, you'd get a grant for three years. It costs a lot to pay to put two people up for three years, plus any research funds. I think if the writers would have remembered it was originally three years they would have included an explaination as to why he was gone longer.

Writers do not have to watch past episodes to check for continuity, they have researchers to do that for them; plus files are kept on all the major characters, (about 20 of them); then of course the cast themselves know their own characters, and won't be afraid to speak up.

All we know is that in 221 "TOW the Bullies" she said she was a chef at Cafe des Artistes, and this was 16 episodes after she got fired from Iridium. However, the restaurant was never called that, we just see it written on the front in the clip of film.

sucsessful....urm they showed various clips from season 1 and season 7 with bits from the classic "you kissed my mom" plot. Urm they showed bits from the rembrants video and also a BBC interview (I think)with the three guys around 1996 (MP was thin so I guessed that) I think the interviewer was that woman....err Gabby something or I dunno I can't remember...have you seen it? DS was talking about how they agreed at the start not to get involved with one another, MLB claimed that that was now out the window. They also had a bit about "The Shag"...Otherwise it was pretty crap actually.....apart from Mel and Sue...they rock!

I've got a bit of both but I do prefer the creative side better...I find schoolwork drab. CREAMSICLE CHEESECAKE Serves: 6 to 8

2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup sugar 2 eggs 3/4 cup sour cream 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 teaspoon orange extract 2 drops yellow food color 1 drop red food color One 9-inch graham cracker pie crust

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, beat well. Add the sour cream and vanilla, mix well. Place 1 cup of the mixture in a small bowl and stir in the orange extract and the yellow and red food colors. Pour the remaining cream cheese mixture into the pie crust. Drop the orange cream cheese mixture into it by spoonfuls and swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until firm around the edges. (The center will be slightly loose.) Allow to cool for 1 hour then cover and chill for at least 8 hours before serving.

NOTE: For a nice finishing touch, top each slice of cheesecake with a dollop of whipped cream or whipped topping and half an orange slice just before serving.

When originally built, there would have been only one or maybe two apartments per floor - we know that #19 and #20 were originally all in one. When we see other floors (apart from the lobby) they usually look the same (since they redress the set) but when Mr.Heckles died there were three doors marked #6, #7, and #8 at the end of a blind corridor, which is presumably what the audience end looks like. Yeah, but when he was eating the wax he seemed to be enjoying it. Maybe he was just still hungry afterwards... if it had been that bad he would have lost his appetite.
