Ok, enough. lol

Dude..I can't believe it! Well, actually I can, because I read some spoilers and put two and two together...but for real! The ending was such a bummer! I mean I love Joey and all, but back off!! Everything was going so right for ross and rachel! but here's what i think will happen: I think she will pick Ross, if it comes down to it. Because A) They had total chemistry in this episode, the kiss at the apartment, the kiss in the hospital. She totally loves him, and she *wants* things to happen, because she basically told Janice that. And B) She was feeling sorry for herself, because she thought she was going to have to raise the baby alone because of what Janice said. So when she saw Joey with the ring, she told him ok without thinking. She doesn't love Joey, she already told him that earlier in the season. And she's shown no signs of having any feelings for him up until now. So back off, Rachel! hehe. Man, I hope I'm right about this crap! LOL, sorry about the ranting...I was a little excited :)

You should never never never marry for the sake of a child, it only makes things worse. Rachel and Ross were having chemistry and feeling lovey dovey because they were sharing the birth of their child. Not because they enjoy each other.

I don't know, I think they really love eachother, but things have just gotten in the way: like Emily, Joey, etc. I think there are feelings there.

Yes I agree there are feelings there. However, they have never been able to make a relationship work and they have had many opportunities to make a go of it. Having a young baby is known to put significant pressure on stable marriages/relationships. Rachel and Ross' relationship is anything but stable. I can't count on one hand the number of people I've known that had a healthy loving marriage whose marriage was sorely tested and destroyed with the addition of baby.

Maybe they have feelings and maybe they should be together, but there is a large probability that the marriage would fail. The bottom line is that would be very damaging for Emma.

Everybody (including ross) has been saying that if ross and rachel got together, and it didn't work, it would damage Emma...But, this makes no sense to me-- About 50% of all marriages end in divorce. And the fact is...Parents get divorced. And yes, it is certainly not HELPFUL to a child if his parents get divorced, but in many normal cases, children are not damaged...they are probably affected of course, but not *damaged.* I'm in no way supporting divorce or anything like that, i'm just saying that parents get divorced.... Ross doesn't want to put Emma through this trauma, but why didn't he feel the same way with Ben? He and Carol weren't together, and is Ben damaged? just a thought..... anyone else?

No Ross and Carol were already divorced/seperated when Ben was born. Ben has never lived with both his biological parents and seen one leave. The affect is very different. Yes many children experience divorce, but just because many do experience it does not mean they should be put in that situation.

Yes. I have heard people talk about having a baby to save their marriage. This is the worst trap for all involved. It's tough enough with a solid marriage.

Ross kept saying that "_we_ aren't in that place" or something to that effect. He's right, but I think the biggest obstacle is that *Rachel* isn't in that place. I think Ross has made great progress in that area.

The bottom line, IMO, is that ITRL this relationship would be tenuous at best. But in Friends world anything is possible. They just have to write it that way. Obviously, this is an oversimplification. We enjoy the show because there are elements of reality in it. But, if they choose, Rachel can develop the maturity she needs, and Ross can continue to grow as well. They *could* become very good for each other. And that's the happy ending that I'm hoping for this light comedy.

I'm just very disappointed to see that they would use Joey, a sweet, kind, caring guy, to be the potential wedge between Ross and Rachel. It's truly unfair, and nearly unforgivable. BUT, I'll give them ep 9-01 to straighten it out.

I have to wonder, what are the alternatives? It seems that the two will have the pressures of this baby in their lives whether they are together as a couple or not since they are both VERY interested in being involved in her life. I see the question of their relationship as a separate issue since all other things are equal.

I agree. She wouldn't have sabotaged every single relationship if she didn't love him inside. Its all about jealousy and secret-lovey-dovey feelings.

I disagree. I think they have felt something for each other since early on, especially Ross, who has had those feelings since he know Rachel in high school.

In article , "res0vdhd" writes:

1. You forgot the word "only". In general, two people who have made a baby together and who love each other should strongly consider getting married *precisely* for the sake of the child. A newborn baby has an absolute right to start out their life without any holes in it. Sometimes it's impossible, sometimes the price ain't worth it, but it is *never* okay.

2. Even then I definitely disagree with you. There are couples, I'm sure, for which marriage "for the sake of the child" is a bad idea - then again, if it's that bad of an idea I doubt they'd be doing *anything* for the sake of the child anyway - but I bet there are plenty of couples who could manage just fine with such a compromise. --- James Squire - http://members.aol.com/jamess1889 IDF Soldiers' Combatant Letter 2002 - http://seruv.nethost.co.il/defaulteng.asp Personal Testimony of an Israeli Refusenik - http://www.shalomctr.org/html/peace84.html
