The Very Best of Friends

After watching tonight's eppy I am more and more convinced that Joey and Pheobe won't get together at all.

Why? You ask?

Well, I find that their relationship is based on true friendship. The best of Friends. They share secrets together, they do friends stuff, and it's more precious than any of the other friends on the show.

I don't know, there's just this special bond between them that no other friends have, and if they ever became a couple it would seem wrong. What I mean is that the thought of them becoming lovers would jeopardize their frienship forever. If they got together and broke up, they could never be friends again, and the bond and love between them would be a total waste.

I have personally seen friendships like this and I know it works way better than romantic, physical relationships. They have each other and will always have each other.

When David left Pheoebe tonight, and Joey's standing in the background, never once did Joey feel jealous or vindictive over what he saw. The first thing he did was comfort her over the loss of her love. That's true friendship, and could never be replaced. The writers are on the ball on this coupling.

Just my 2cents.

Great post..I agree with it all. There are some friendships that are really deep that just aren't meant to be anything more. Sometimes a great friendship is more rewarding than a relationship anyway.

Besides, I think that Phoebe belongs with David. I really want them to get together when the series ends.

Actually, I believe that's what we'll see happen too. Could we be seeing a hint of foreshadowing from this eppy?

I read in TV guide they won't be getting together because its supposed to be "friends" not "couples.

I agree that they probably won't be getting together, but just for the info... The best romantic relationships are the ones that start out as being just friends. That way when the initial "honeymoon period" that all romances go through is over, you still have the friendship.

Phoebe and Joey's friendship has been a strong point of the series. The best example of this was in TOW 2 Parts, Part 2. Phoebe wants to be mad at Joey for missing her birthday party, but she winds up feeling bad for him since Ursula dumped him. Phoebe posing as Ursula to let Joey down easy was very sweet of her, one of the best moments in the series and not just because they kiss.

I just loved that scene, especially when Joey realized he kissed Pheobe and not Ursula. And when she was sitting on the couch, Joey calls "Pheobe" and she replies, and then Joey's heart just flutters for her. Great moment

This just proves again that, without a hint favouritism, that Phoebe has been the most consistent character in the series. Unlike Monica, whose been: a helping hand, neat-freak, depressed, overly competitive, loving, whiny and back to helping hand, Phoebe has always been Phoebe, and they should keep it that way.

Ross and Phoebe's character changes mainly don't count. Phoebe has been traumatized, and Ross was obviously very unstable.

i don't think joey and pheobe will get together either. and if they did the show would seem boring, because all the main characters would be with each other. i know ross and rachel arent together, but they were and they probably will get together again.
