Friends DVDs

I don't know either to buy the seasons that are being released now or if it wouldn't be better to wait and see if once the whole seasons are out, they release a package with a good price that includes the whole 9 seasons and more extra tracks (which will take a long time, since it looks like they'll release 2 season per year), Do you think they'll do that?

I wouldn't expect that. We never know what these guys think. Also, I prefer to spend CAN 60,00 each 6 months than to pay (let's say) CAN 400,00 once.

My concern is that, once the series is over, they won't release the seasons anymore. I know I can get the version from England or Australia, but I was told there are almost no extras and the quality is not as good as the american version.

Of course they'll keep releasing the seasons after the show is over--why wouldn't they?! How DUMB do you think they are? They are milking the re-surgance of interest in the show by getting everyone to buy the seasons. After the show is over, fans will only want more. The WB will ALWAYS want more money, so what do you suppose they'll do?!

And you are not alone in not wanting to pay so much @ one time for the "complete" set.. meaning that will probably never happen. They know hardly anyone would buy it.

We never know Logan, New series will show up and we don't know if 2 or 3 years from know (assuming next season will be the last one) WB will still have plans to sell a series that's over.

I mean, so far I haven't heard any comment when the next season on DVD will be released. I don't know if they really have plans to release 2 seasons for year, but if they do, we are talking about almost 5 years ahead.

Anyway, I keep expecting they have good sense and hopefully I will have all the seasons at home.

There is minimal cost on their part, when you think about it. The shows have already been shot - nothing new there. WB is already a big distro house. So they slap out a few extra Friends discs when the next big WB theatrical release comes due on video. Make up some new packaging and they are ready to roll. It's almost like free money for them.

On a side note - if you are a M*A*S*H fan, their DVDs are most excellent. The option to turn off the phony laugh track is the biggest draw, but the shows were transferred crystal clear and uncut. If anyone has any experience with any other TV shows on DVD please speak up! The Andy Griffith DVDs are a joke - transferred from low quality prints with horrible picture, and since they have no authorization to use the theme song we're stuck with a low-budget Casio keyboard random tune!

The release date for Season 2 is September 3, 2002. That's 4 months between seasons, so the current rate is 3 seasons per year. If the current rate is kept, by the time the show ends in May, 4 seasons will have been released (May, Sept, Jan., May). With summer 2003 reruns, they could get Season 5 out by the time NBC stops showing Friends. I would bet money that they would stop there. But, if they do keep going at that rate, Season 9 would be released by May 2004 (less than 2 years, not 5).

Where did you get this information from? I've been trying to find the release date on the NET and I couldn's see any website mentioning that. If they do release 3 seasons per year, it's great. Later, Camilo
