So this it was, the long expected/awaited "R&R tell us about their feelings about each other" episode--well almost and at least one side of the story. I just felt really comfortable with the non-knowledge and sweet little gestures. Right then they spoil it. Maybe this episode should have been set on an earlier date.

Rachel and Ross are obviously not as much a couple as it seemed during the last few episodes, or at least they don't see it like that ("I have a b--aby and a Ross", best description so far). On the other hand they both show/tell that they are not willing to be _not_ together, so instead of the lately assumed silent get together we should expect a more dramatic episode in the (near?) future in which they'll finally be honest about their feelings to each other, probably causing delays again. According to Rachels remarks they seem to already know what the other one feels, though.

Boy, are they making their relationship complicated for no reason. Nike.

Note that so far (823/4 & 909) only Phoebe shows interest in getting/seeing them together again. [1] She still believes in lobsters. And Joey a little (902). He should use his bat to force them to talk.

The Best Buds plus Mon (a trio often used lately) plot was quite entertaining, not as much as it could have or other stories around those three have been, but still better than Ross and Mike sitting around. Bored people are boring to watch in most cases, this one included. How can a talk between two men about beer not turn into a lengthy discussion, especially if some of it is invoked? Thus Mike is doomed to be dumped soon: it cannot be that a seventh friend can't have a talk with one of the original six.

This episode was eerily similar to TOW the prom video as far as the R&R story goes: 1) Phoebe thinks (or seems to think) they should be together 2) Ross picks up a phone call from some dude who wants to go out with Rachel and doesn't tell her about it

now all we need is some never before seen video and we're set....

909 is the first episode after November sweeps, yes? If so, that deserves mentioning. As for Rachel and her depiction of the conversation between her and Ross, she's ducked out of this conversation before as well, and Ross is used to ignoring his feelings, he's done it for nine years (that was S2) and then for another (S3-S9ish) six, which makes it a total of 15 years - assuming he was in love with her all the time. However, Phoebe mocking Rachel about the eye contact thing was damn funny, as it indirectly ridiculed how the writers have been messing with the R&R fans ever since S3

Or: He should play baseball with Chandler. I'd prefer that a lot to Joey getting involved in the whole R&R deal again

Tennant's gonna like how smart Joey was. But this storyline proved what I had just said somewhere, that lovers and best friends will always be two different things

I feared something worse. At least it was down to both of them and not only Ross' fault. However, I was amazed how they could not get a conversation started. When the whole beer thing was mentioned for the first time, I thought "here we go", but apparently not.

Could they not have turned on the stupid TV or something? Sheesh. That was driving me crazy the entire episode. But when Ross said Mike experimented with the normal social boundaries (or however he said it), I loved Mike's cheerful "Yeah, I did!"

Yeah, that part of it was good. The rest was . . . well . . . not so good. I thought the same thing about the TV, but then I thought Ross would probably want to watch mating water buffalo or something odd like that. Still, at least one of them would have been enjoying himself.

True. Everything could be cleared up with clear communication, but then we'd have 15 minutes of television each night. What would we do with the extra hours? (Work toward world peace might be a start, as long as everyone goes about it my way.)

YES. And a very good use of a prop I believe!

I too liked the trio too. And I could feel Ross and Mikes pain. Unfortunately, I don't tune in to feel that kind of pain. It was a bit much. I liked the fact that Mike experimented with the boundaries of social conduct and owned up to it just as easily. That was a good bit.

I suppose that's his fate, but it's too bad. The character is a good guy who could learn a lot from Phoebe while enjoying every moment. There's half of a season of Phoebe story lines right there, maybe more.
