Which character or person would you like to see (again) on the show this upcoming season, and more importantly, why?
My personal favourite right now, would be Mr. Heckles. Why? Well, as you all might now what happened to Mr. Heckles, the only way he can appear on the show (that doesn't involve Phoebe's "powers"), is a flashback episode. I've always liked those shows. (that's flashback episodes, not clip-shows)
Hmmm... Anybody know if they have a clip show planned this season? I really hope they don't...

ok, that's all I think of right now. But don't forget that guest stars are usually quite disappointing, just look at Ben Stiller, he can do so much more than he did in TOW the screamer
I'd love to see Emily come back. There was a rumour that Sophie Ellis Bextor would replace Helen Baxendale during the last series and the character of Emily would return. I'd love it if that happened during the next one. unlikely though :-(

I'd like to see Phoebe's dad come back ... they never did anything with him after all that time she looked for him. Perhaps he could come back in an episode and marry Phoebe's biological mother. That'd be great.
PA was just like PB (or the other way round); while the tongue-rolling incident in 305 showed that PB had been deceived about her parents.
Well, there's a lot we'd find out in the episode, in which Lisa Kudrow could play Phoebe Abbott, DS & JA could be Frank & Lily as a sop to the poor RnR fans, MLB could be Lily's second husband, MP & CCA could play Leslie's parents, and maybe the Olsen twins as young Phoebe & Ursula.
Albino Bob would of course be in Part 2: about Phoebe's life on the streets, and how she came to live with Monica. CCA/MP/LK/DS play their usual roles, while JA & MLB could play Bob & Kip, which would be fun.

Okay, but we've never seen Lily. Maybe she and PA were freakishly similar, like twins separated at birth. This could explain their unusual closeness.
How do you figure? My mother can't roll her tongue, but my brother and I can both roll ours. We have no doubt that she's our mother, though.
In my version, LK could play *Lily* (since I'd have her as the birth mom). *Or* she could play both Lily and PA, if the "freakishly similar" element extended to an inexplicable resemblance (but if that were the case, Phoebe would have reacted very differently upon meeting PA, so that's not likely).
I wouldn't have any of the other main actors cast in flashback rolls, because I hate when sitcoms do that.

There have been examples that I'm not remembering right now (having blocked out all but my distaste), but there was ABC's TGiF "Flashback" night, when all the comedies featured a different decade.
As for why--it just irritates me to be asked to believe in all these dead-ringers.

Well, that must be where your tongue-rolling ability came from.
Phoebe told Frank that she could roll her tongue, and since her mother couldn't, she had figured that was something she'd inherited from their father. But when then they attempt this, Frank succeeds & Phoebe fails.
Phoebe realises she had remembered it backwards, her mother could roll her tongue, she can't. This means that Frank inherited his ability from his mother, while Phoebe is unrelated to at least one of her parents.
Ah-hah!
Well, the key to success is to make them look *different*.

You plan to cast one young blonde girl as the twins, I plan to cast two.
This does sound scary, but do you suppose this was a representative sample of the _Friends_ viewing audience?
Did they establish that Frank Sr. couldn't roll his tongue? If he couldn't, then couldn't Phoebe have taken after him?
Besides, the writers haven't been perfect with their consistency regarding Phoebe's backstory. We had Phoebe telling her friends that the father took off before she was born. But when PA was retconned as her mother, she told PB that she thought she was giving her babies to the best parents she could think of (something along those lines). And at her grandmother's funeral, Frank Sr. said he left because he was a terrible dad, and told her the story about his lullably (with the "Smelly Cat" tune). There are other problems as well. I just really wish they'd never done the Teri Garr storyline.
How different would they look? Do you suppose they'd be unrecognizable? And why not just cast other actors?

The Olsen twins are mini-moguls. They're so rich that any money they got to guest on _Friends_ would be pocket change to them. But a guest spot on the show could be a career-making job for an unknown.
Frank Sr. couldn't roll his tongue, since if he could, then Phoebe would be able to. So, since he couldn't, and Lily could, then Phoebe should have been able to. So, since she couldn't, then Lily was not her real mother.
With a bit of hand-waving, she could have been repeating what Lily said.

Her grandmother said Frank Sr. knocked up Lily and left her. Didn't this leave you with the impression that Grandma was around when Lily was pregnant? Yes, I know you can wave your hands all over the place, but it's still uneven stuff.
I'm not denigrating Garr's performance. She did a good job, and could have done an equally accomplished performance as Phoebe's aunt. But I've never liked what this revision did to poor Lily's story.
I've also had the impression that the writers would prefer to pretend this story arc never happened. We have neither heard about nor heard from PA since season four, but Phoebe has, from time to time, referred to her mother Lily since then.
I'd know. And complain bitterly. Therefore, they shouldn't do it. :P
