What's the deal with Jack Gellar being a slob lately?

In the last few seasons, it seems like Jack's character has been getting closer and closer to Homer Simpson territory. He does disgusting things like drinking a can of condensed milk, and tells "inappropriate" (if you know what I mean) stories in front of his kids, not realizing that they really don't want to hear about it. I don't remember him being like this in earlier seasons. He always made Monica feel like he liked Ross better without realizing it, but I don't remember him being an actual slob-like character. Judy seems about the same. Has anybody else noticed this, or is it just me?

He has always been one for saying something slightly off color. Then, he follows it up with, "I'm just saying."

And don't a lot of fathers feel they have the corner on the gas market? I mean, Bill Cosby even build dads' gas into a twenty minute routine.
