Jennifer's Mom's book...

Going back a little bit in time, one of the stated reasons JA didn't invite her mom to the wedding was because her mom wrote this book that aired all the family's dirty laundry. I've been meaning to ask if anyone's read this book and if it was worth- while? (I put it on my list to read, but if it's not any good, I'll forego it for something else.)

Thanks...

Um, there's no such thing as "The New York Metropolitan High-School of Art." I believe Aniston actually attended the LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts (aka the "Fame" school), which is public and free (albeit a "magnet" school, with a selective admissions policy).

I figured that's probably what you meant. My point is that the "Fame" school is free, so Aniston's family's alleged poverty would not have prevented her from attending. As to whether her family was ever truly poor, hell if I know . . .

Actually, the show Jen's mom Nancy appeared on in February 96 was Hard Copy. She didn't say anything weird about Jen, just talking about her hairstyle what it felt like having a famous daughter etc. in Nancy's version she was going to appear on the show and talk about the Waldorf teaching but all this talk ended up on the editing room floor. Jen got mad at Nancy for appearing on the show, and yelled at her over the phone an then refused talking to her. But the Hard Copy incident was only the last straw for Jen, it was the catalysts. Jen's mom wrote in her book that sh eunderstand why Jen cut contact with her because Nancy wa too dependent on Jen, she didn't let her think for her self. In the end of her book Nancy write that when a mom give birth to a child usually they feel like they are the same person for the first days after the birth, but then this feeling fade, but it never did with Jennifer. Nancy always felt sh was the same person as Jen, she couldn't separate herself from Jen. So when Jen did anything that Nancy didn't approve of Nancy tried to convince Jen to think the same way she does. She didn't approve of the Rolling Stones pictures Jen posed on in 95 and she didn't approve of Jen getting herself a manager. She couldn't accept that Jennifer was a own person with her own mind an down thoughts. Jen move to LA from NYC to get her career going, and a year after her mom moved to LA too! This is what you get if you read Nancy's book. The tabloid version is that Jen cut contact with her mom BECAUSE of Hard Copy an now is more pissed at her because of the book, but it I so much more to the story than that. But when I read Nancy's book I just realized I i completely understand why Jen cut contact with her mom, because it is hard to have a mom very close upon you every day who doesn't understand (no matter who many time you are telling her)that you have a brain and willpower of your won.

Hmm. Thanks for the information. I had read that Nancy had problems as you mentioned above. It seems easy to side with Jennifer, given these revelations, but I wonder how Jennifer will do when she herself has kids. . . . It may quite possibly be one of 2 results - Jenn will treat her daughter very similarly, or Jenn will do the exact opposite - not indicating whether she approves or disapproves of whatever choices her kid(s) make.

It's ironic that Nancy didn't approve of the Rolling Stone cover, but isn't Nancy an actress from the "soft porn" genre? I wonder how she feels about Jen's appearance in Metal Gods (?).

About a year ago Jennifer's mom appeared on British morning talkshow "Kilroy". The theme of the show was mother-daughter relationships and she was the special guest. The audience *totally* flamed and embarassed her (sometimes very rudely). Asking how she could ever say such personal stuff about her daughter in the media and after everything write a book about it. She was completely stunned by the canderless way the British women reacted and talked to her. I must say I was a bit stunned too. They were like "What kind of a mother are you?" and "What were you thinking?". Not one person defended or understood her. She probably never got these type of reactions in the States. I'm pretty sure she regretted ever going on the show.

Candourless? Quite the opposite. They were very candid. (Candour, candid = frank, open, outspoken, honest.)

She probably thought it was more like 'Leeza' or whatever, those gentle "puff" kind of shows. I think I still have that Kilroy show on tape somewhere.

Hellooooo!!! After getting drunk in Vegas, Jacqui doodled cat whiskers on his/her face and miaowed this little lot at a statue...

I would argue that Mrs. Aniston is totally taking advantage of the situation by continuing to put it in the media - regardless of whatever it was that caused the rift, you *never* deliberately (I don't buy for a second that she *didn't* realise what would result from writing the book) compound the situation by writing books and going on talk shows about it. Especially if you want to reconcile with the person in question, as Mrs. Aniston claims so often that she wants to do. Talk about capitalising on her own daughter's fame, of all people.

Sorry, but I have little respect or sympathy for Mrs. Aniston, or anyone like that; she's dug her own grave and continues to dig it in spite of the fact she knows what it's doing, if she doesn't want to lie in it she should stop digging. (Or something like that.)

gentle

Lord yes.

I never said I had anything for her, be it respect or sympathy or whatever, merely that I thought she'd mistaken a savage show for a gentle "plug my book" one... :) (The topic of the show was "mothers v daughters - rifts caused by things that were said" (paraphrase), but a lot of the time guests like that aren't made fully aware of the show's agenda.)

Jac

It *sounds* like her mother has some *serious* problems. How sad.
