In "TOW Phoebe Hates PBS," she talks about how she went to the old guy next door's front stoop and swept up his leaves. How could she do that when the old guy next door lives INDOORS, as Phoebe lives in an apartment building?

Phoebe's apartment seemed to be fairly large, which leads me to believe it's one of those buildings that only has a few apartments, kind of like a split duplex house (Instead of being split to just 2, they made dived into maybe 4 instead). So if it was like that, then each neighboor would have steps, at least the ones living downstairs. Also her apartment building may have been next to a house, there are a couple apartment buildings like that around my neighboorhood.

well the guy on the first floor sometimes has a front stoop, so she could have gone downstairs and swept his...or it could have been a porch like Monica's..
have you ever been to manhattan?
Unless she lives EXTREMELY far away this isnt possible, the city is all huge buildings all linked together.

How far is that? One mile. While most buildings in Manhattan ARE very close to one another (though not actually "linked together"), not all of them are huge. Manhattan has lots of apartment buildings (mostly brownstones and Federal-style buildings) that range from three to six stories high and have just one or two apartments per floor; most of these buildings do .0 indeed have front stoops.
they appear linked because there are only a few inches between some..

Well I was for a few hours last year, hah. I saw the sites like the History Museum, Central Park, etc. I didn't get to see all of the apartments but there were a few that had their own steps that I noticed. Nice apartments overlooking the park, probably very expensive ones. But I wasn't actually sure where Phoebe lives, they never actually said which burrow she lived in.
