hey, I know this is completely off topic, but has anyone seen Scary Movie? It looked pretty funny in the previews, but when I saw the movie, it was horrible! There were some funny parts, but it was the ronchiest movie I've ever seen in my live. I cant believe they're even allowed to rate it R. It should be rated X, or at least have some sort of advisory on the preview. Ok, I'm done, but I'd like to hear if anyone else has any comments on the movie.

I haven't actually seen it yet, but it got really bad reviews. I was going to see it anyway, because I don't usually agree with the critics who's reviews I read, but now that somebody who isn't getting paid to critisize a movie says it's bad, I'm thinking maybe I should wait and see it on video. What do you think?
I haven't seen it either but yesterday as I was so suprised when Roger Ebert gave Scary Movie the Thumb Up which is weird.
I also wonder what some of the Scream cast members think of the spoof such as Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Drew Barrymore, and even Wes Craven.

ahh I dont know.. They reviewed a Foreign chineses film I know. They reviewed Gladiator but I forget what they said. Yea I liked Siskel. I dont know the guys name who replaced him, I am horrible with names.

Hellooooo!!! After getting drunk in Vegas, Katrina doodled cat whiskers on his/her face and miaowed this little lot at a statue...
To be honest, I'd suspect they're allowed to get away with it because it's humourous... the context can mean a lot when rating something like that. (Of course, the BBFC fail to acknowledge that completely...)
Btw, on the note of the BBFC - Jim, just found this on their web site, this is the sort of thing I'm getting at (please note it's random and came up while I was searching for *our* Friends):

Yeah, especially since the movie was supposed to be rated NC 17 but for some reason the MPAA let it slide. That I cannot believe. I actually liked the movie though. It was funny. The Wayans Bros. did a good job on it. Definately a good spoof.

It's not that I THINK it should've been rated NC 17, it has been stated in numerous places that because of the vulgar, among other things, the film deserved a stronger rating. I could clearly see points in this film that was worthy of an NC 17 rating. Although I enjoyed the film, it was a tad vulgar where it should've gotten a harsher rating than it did. (But then again, I hate the MPAA, so what else is new)

Spoiler space for those who havent seen Scary Movie, and for those who may not want to hear the gross and gory details of the movie...
Ok, well, I'll mention two examples that make me think it should have been rated NC 17. There is a bathroom scene, spoofing Scream 2, where the guy puts his ear up to a hole in the wall, to hear what is going on in the next stall, and a big slimy penis pops through, right into the guy's ear, and out the other. Another example, would be where a girl is talking to her so obviously a drag queen gym teacher, and as the gym teacher is talking about how everyone has secrets they're hiding, a big pair of saggy balls fall out of her skirt. This is not to mention many many other gross things that I have tried to push out of my memory.
