Changes in the Past of 'Friends'

I was just reading this on a message board on the net and I thought it was pretty interesting to see what other people would come up with. ------------------------------

What one thing would you have changed that happened in the past of "Friends" that would satisfy you and why that thing in particular? Some ideas can be such as maybe Rachel and Tag/Chandler and Monica never being a couple, Ross wearing leather pants, knowing Monica was never fat, Ross never even proposing to Emily, or even the smallest things.

I have a few things that I would of liked to change in the past but one of them is I really wish that Rachel never moved out of Monica's apartment because after then the show seemed to focus on Mondler too much instead of focusing on the group as a whole.

I certainly dont think Ross wearing leather pants or Monica being fat
was a big deal. Something i would have changed... Definitely not to have
Chandler gain all that weight. I used to think he was a rather cute guy,
but to me he soon began to look like a whale, or a very fat man.
	Also, maybe i wouldnt have has C+M get together, but the show would
have stayed the same forever. Things have to change, otherwise it would
be a boring show with just plots about things like Phoebe's cat, or
Ross' teeth (shiver).

I would have liked to have seen Ross successfully married to Emily, even if we never saw her because she kept her London job and their relationship was transcontinental. The stress involved with sustaining a long-distance marriage could be mined for humor, especially if Emily got pregnant. Rachel's reaction to having to live with it might be funny, too.

Basically, the show went south for me when Ross' marriage collapsed. It hit the toilet when Mondler became the only character that mattered and *everybody* else was thrown in the trash.

yes, I agree I miss Emily.. Ross and Emily were great couple when Rachel screwed up their wedding, I thought there was something between R&R but, do you remember when Rachel confessed her love to Ross? she just laughed.. I was disappointed in her and the show at that time...and so on

I totally agree. When Rachel confessed her love for Ross in that scene, and she then just laughed it away as if her whole history with Ross was one stupid joke, that was the exact moment that the writers showed that they had stopped caring about R&R, and henceforth only focus on C&M; since they obviously can't handle two couples at teh same time..That scene was so disappoointing. Here we had been waiting for 2 years for R&R to get together and we hoped it woudl be as soon as one of them were totally honest and admitted being in love with the other, but when it happened...Nothing came out of it. Since then I have never thought that R&R would ever get back together again, because it wouldn't be credible in my opinipn. And the writers has ever since abused the memory of these two.

I agree. I liked Ross & Emily in season 4 and hated how they messed it up. I sometimes wonder how things would have been if Helen Baxendale hadn't gotten pregnant.

Oh-ho...this could be good.

1.) No "break." R&R decided to put their relationship on hold instead of Ross cheating on Rachel and shattering the show "Friends" and turning it into "Mondler." 2.) No "TO On The Last Night." Well, not the episode, per se, but I think that things were much better when it was J&C, R&M, Ross, and Phoebe. The show's focus shifted too much, and I really don't think moving everyone around was necessary so early on in C&M's relationship. They should have saved the change for their wedding. 3.) No "...take thee, Rachel." Let Ross get married and screw it up in a way that doesn't directly involve Rachel.

Everything on Friends that's happened since R&R's "break" has been set in an alternate universe, except for Phoebe being the surragote mother to Frank, Jr.'s triplets and Chan and Mon's romance that started in London.

If I were in charge of Friends, I make a lot of changes on the show that'll get everyone in Hollywood, and on this newsgroup, talking.
