Joey is getting dumber and dumber every episode

Pretty funny how the writers aren't making Joey any smarter over time.   If
anything he's getting dumber.   Last Thursday's ep was a prime example; "You
can't have S-E-X when you're taking care of a B-A-B-I-E!" and "Name your
firstborn child Joey, I've got to carry on my family name."    It's starting to
be almost unbelievable, but it's pretty darn hilarious.

Then of course, there was the ep near the beginning of the season, when he didn't even know that the two fingers meant quotation marks. (I'm "sorry".) You'd think Matt LeBlanc would be getting tired as being portayed as stupid all the time, but it's hard to say no when you're being paid $24 million a year to play dumb.

Well, I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Joey is a swiss army knife. His intellect is written inconsistently. It sways by fifty points either direction depending on the needs of the script at the moment...

Just like Rachel's level of compassion for others and Ross' sanity.

(Which is one of the reasons this show has really begun to annoy me.)

I thought this episode (9-15) was particularly ridiculous on that score. There is *NO WAY* that a professional actor, even one as dumb as Joey is, would not recognize a stage direction "long pause". That was PATHETIC on the part of the writers. PATHETIC.

They deserve to be pelted with rotten tomatoes for that one.
